Washi Tape Little Tree

Ta dah!!!

Happy New Year!
Hope your 2014 is full of blessings!  :)

This is the other project made out with washi tape... The one that I submitted to the Scotch contest and was selected among the top 3 in its category.  I know!  I'm so excited.  It was revealed in the "Papeles y Más" magazine and it was so cool to find out.

Anyway...  It is a very special Christmas Ornament.  I loved making it.

I used foam as based for the tree look shape... covered with doillies and embellished with sequins, glitter buttons and of course washi tape.  I alligned washi tapes stripes in cardstock, draw spiral circles in the back and cut to then shaped as flowers.

The top star was also made with washi tape and supported with a similar shape chipboard.

This is the back so you can see more washi tape:

Hope you liked it. Wish me luck!  Winners will be announced in an upcoming Scrapbooking Convention to be held in Puerto Rico next February.  You can get more information HERE.

Scotch Washi Tape Card

Hola!

Hope you are having fun the last weekend of the year.  I have a lot of little tasks at home and haven't been able to make some scrapbooking projects that I have in mind and that I need to accomplish this week.  But there are several cards and projects I have not shared with you yet since they were made for a magazine or for a contest...

As far as the contest goes, I submitted some projects for a Scotch washi tape contest.  There were 3 categories:  tag, card, and embellish/ornament.  I found out in the "Papeles y Más" magazine that my tag and ornament were chosen as runner ups.  The card wasn't.  So today I'm sharing it with you.  (I will share the tag and the ornament in a future post).

The contest was for Scotch and I had to use washi tape so you can see I framed the main element in the card with washi tape and that element (the wreath) is made out of washi and cardstock.

I placed washi in lines leaving some spaces, and punched flowers to create irregular color combinations for the wreath.  I used two different washi tapes for the project.

Also stamped some leaves and added glossy accents, combined with a doilly, and embossed background.

I also used some washi inside the card.

I hope you liked my card and somehow got some inspiration...  Have a great rest of the weekend.  Please leave me a comment to complement mine.  Those make me smile.

:)

May Peace be with you!

What about a Christmas card in the middle of the week?  Yeah! It's always a good time to get creative.

I've got some new stamps recently and am putting them at work.  I love this angel girl stamp from Unity Stamp Co.

I wanted to color her softly with some sort of out of the ordinary colors for an angel.  I got inspired from the Unity Be Inspired challenge... again!!!  I mixed watercolor pencils with copics... I bet the experts would say that shouldn't be done but you know how imperfect I love to be!!!

I used embossing folders to create the embossed hearts background in the cream/gold paper.  Also some Prima flowers and washi tape, cardstock, ink and of course... love!

May peace be with you friends.  Love your messages... yeah, those ones you are going to leave me now.  :)

...As happy as you choose to be...

Hello dear friends...
Today is the first Friday of my favorite month...  This is my birthday month... it's usually the month during I most probably can take some vacation time...it's also Halloween month... and I have decided to have a lot of fun this year for sure.  I will be as happy as I choose to be...  I actually plan to document every day of this month and make a mini album...  Let's see the result next month... :)...   Don't blame me if the project evolves and I end up doing something else... it's part of the process... and I need to enjoy it...LOL!

Anyway, I thought it would be nice I share here a tag I made for Unity Show & Tell facebook page last week so more people can see it and hopefully get inspired, as I definitely got inspired by others.  There were so many gorgeous tags made by all Unity Stamp Co. followers... It was awesome!

Mine was made by creating a background with Distress Stain and inks...

I then stamped this nice sentiment which I love...  but also stamped it in different patterned papers to cut the letters and create a collage of colors and textures by paper piecing it... Yep, it was fun doing it!

I added a letter "e" at the end... so instead of "YOU are as HAPPY as you choose TO BE", it reads "BEE".   That gave me permission to add this beautiful bee placed with 3D foam squares to make her pop out.  I stamped it separately, colored it, added some glossy accents, and... Of course, this fabulous bee has glitter... She shines!!!

A couple of more stamped images here and there... and washi tapes at the bottom, and some fiber to complete the happy tag.  I think it is very cheerful.  I plan to use it for a card, or maybe as journaling in one of my pages... who knows?

I hope you liked it, and don't forget to comment for the opportunity to win great stuff from Unity Friends with Flair...

Happy Friday...  Happy weekend... Happy Month!  Choose HAPPY today.

Best of Luck... So long... Goodbye!

Hola!
Happy Friday!

I was sooooo waiting for today! LOL... as always.  Friday is a great day, what can I say?

This is a quick post to share with you a card I made for a co-worker who decided to move to New York.  A group of co-workers will sign the card and will give it to him today.  He is such a good person and we will really miss him.  I made the card trying to show a little bit of what we know about him, mixed with our good wishes and thoughts for this new journey he's decided to take.  His name is Juan and he's a Finance guy.

Here are some details.  The bundle of numbers is a stamp from Unity Stamp Co. (I also used it in my previous post; you can see it HERE).   I pretend it to be an obvious reference to Juan's finance background. The circle with the words "choices" and "decisions"was cut using Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge.  I combined two circles with words to be able to have both words in the same circle.

I also used these stamps from Stampin' Up as an advice to him (Enjoy... life, the little things, every moment).

This beautiful sentiment from Unity Stamp Co is also added as an advice... "Scatter Sunshine all along the way", as a reference to the journey he is starting soon.
The works "chicken", "pizza", and "tacos" are a reference to the industry we work for, which is foodservice.  These alphabet stamps are from Inkadinkado.

One of the corners combines a stamp from Inkadinkado (Best of Luck) with another one from Unity Stamp Co (the background with playing cards symbols).

I also added the "think" and "dream big" message from same cartridge "Graphically Speaking", and tried to play with the words adding "NYC" and the apple stamp from Unity Stamp Co.  So it should read "think, dream Big Apple".  An obvious reference to the place he is moving to.

Something very peculiar about this guy is that he works in the finance area, but he actually studied culinary arts too...so he's a chef.  Then I draw this chef hat and cut to add a detail in reference to that fact.  The square background is a stamp from Glitz Designs, and I draw on some of the squares for a crafty drawing look.

There are some other stamps... like the sentiment "wherever you go, go with all your heart" from Unity Stamp Co.; and the heart to which I added glossy accents, from Inkadinkado.

And stickers, ink, washi tape, cardstock, baker's twine, glitter... and lots of love and good wishes.

I like that there's a lot going on in this card but it's all trying to communicate a message or represent something specific.

I hope he likes the card, but mostly I hope he finds success and happiness in NYC!

Tks for your comments.  Have a great weekend.

Here comes Sunday....

Today is Sunday... a very hot Sunday here in Puerto Rico... and I'm going over an even warmer area in my beautiful Island... the town of Ponce.

I'm going to visit my mother in law.  Her mom died last week :(... (My husband's grandma).  She was 89 and had been sick for a while.  We said good bye to her last Saturday... and it was my mother in law's birthday.  It was so sad to see her saying good bye to her mom the very same day of her birthday. But it was special too, because she thanked her mom and said that she was leaving a day like the day she gave her life, so that was special.  We learn different life's points of view everyday.

So, anyway... My husband didn't want to mention her birthday on that day... he thought he would be giving her more sadness... but he wants to visit her today and give her a card.

So I made this one for her.  Didn't want to really put any sentiment related to what happened, but just a card that reflects relaxation, tranquility, or possibly a moment of serenity.

I'm not sure if I accomplished that (LOL!) but I liked the card for her.

I used a doily, different scrap papers and some baker's twine.   The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is washi tape.  (I've told you... these sticky friends have come to my life to stay).  I chose this stamp from Unity and I also got inspired from Unity's Sketch Challenge.

Hope you liked my card.  Have a beautiful Sunday...  Tks for your comments.

Flower Dreams

I'm back!!!!  I had a wonderful time during my getaway and will share some of it in some future posts...

I want to share with you this card I made for the Ippity Challenge.  It features the use of flowers.

I stamped the flower pattern stamp several times, colored with chalks of different shades of pink and peach and cut the shapes.

I assembled around a stamped and embossed heart, making sure to have different dimensions using 3D squares, and added bling in the center of the larger flowers.

I then framed with card-stock, patterned paper and more card-stock using washi tape for an outer frame.

I stamped the sentiment which is really a 4-line message, but cut around each word to be able to place in one straight line at the bottom of the card.

I love the imperfect result.  Do you?  Leave me your comment and remember you'll have the chance to win fabulous Unity's stamps because today is Friday and this means the day to share some art using Unity's stamps (FWF).

Unity Friday, SEM, and Page Maps... all combined!

Today is Friday... and I'm so excited about having some rest.  I've had so much tension at work lately and the upcoming weeks do not promise to be better... so I'm conscious about it and don't want to let it affect me... so let's enjoy Friday!  And this means Friday Friends with Flair too!

I wanted to participate in the SEM challenge this month.  They are asking for a layout or project to describe "created beauty" referring to nature, things or abstract feelings/concepts you appreciate...  When I first read about this challenge I thought of making a layout about my marriage, or my relationship with my dog and how he has become so special... but then I said to myself:  "You are a beautiful creation yourself!"  It's not that I am selfish or think I am better than anyone... no...  It's that feeling of being thankful about being alive!  It is also true that sometimes I don't like myself... not that I don't accept me, but you know... from time to time I wish not being getting old, or would like prettier feet... LOL!  I am human after all!  But the truth is that I appreciate myself, give thanks to God everyday for being pretty healthy, and for having the opportunity to have lived so many beautiful things in my life.  I know, I know, there are a lot of things I don't have, or will never have... and I've suffered, and I am sure this is part of life, but I focus on the ones God has given me, and the ones he hasn't that make me fight for more... because he knows what he's doing... right?

So once I decided I was going to do the layout about myself (a very difficult task), I saw this sketch from Page Maps and decided to use it.  So it's a double challenge inspired in the "created beauty" theme from SEM, and this sketch from Page Maps:

I had a sticker from Glitz Designs that I soooo wanted to use and had not found the right project.  It says "I feel pretty oh so pretty".

Note that the patterned paper has faux stitching, and I also added some handmade stitching in several sections of the page... I used a ruler and a pen to draw/write it... :)

I also used lots of washi tapes...  Here on top o the page I used one with dots and another one with stripes.. and I used some other in blue lace and another with blue plaid, under the oval tab with handwritten journaling.

The title is "Me myself and I", and is just one of multiple Unity stamps I used in the layout.
The sentiment "I am thankful" is another stamp, and the arrows, as well as the banner with the yellow word stickers...  all stamps.  Can you tell I love Unity stamps?

I used lots of embelishments from The Girls Paperie, and Glitz, and pieces of patterned papers (Cosmo Cricket and DCWV).

I also sprayed pink mist in some spots of the page.

The journaling says:  "I love the fact that I am alive and was created imperfect, so I can learn, love and enjoy life everyday."

I hope you liked my page and somehow it inspires you to appreciate you as the great creation you are.

Thanks for your comments.

Another CAS Sunday!

Happy Sunday my friends.  And Happy first day of July!!!!
For me this Sunday has been a clean and simple one!  Had a late breakfast and have been doing some "nothing"...  I mean, just relaxing, doing things here and there but without stress.  Sometimes we just need to relax and don't have deadlines or chores to do with pressure.
Today is one of those days for me.

And the Outlawz have this CAS challenge every Sunday... CAS stands for Clean and Simple style.  It's cool to be simple because sometimes less is more.  I like to participate from time to time because it is really a challenge for me.  I usually start simple but always look for more to add to the projects, so participating in this makes me control and finish with a simple design.

Look how simple I went with this star.  I assempled some strips of washi tape in cardstock, and then stamped this star on them. Then I cut it and created my own embelishment.  I could say it's like a continuation to my imperfect washi tape heart from my previous post... LOL!

And I stamped some other stars and added to the other washi tapes placed at the bottom.  Very clean and simple...  It was that easy and fast to do... that it made me want to make another one.

And this one was using same stamps into red cardstock and cutting the shapes.  Then assembled on top of three strips of washi tapes used as background.

I added some glossy accents and glitter to the center star of the big star.

Really clean and simple.  I think I really honored the challenged because it was very easy and fun to do with great results.   I'll enter this one in the Outlawz challenge today.

I hope you liked my cards.  Please let me know with your comment. :)  And have a happy Sunday and a great rest of the week.  Don't forget to be imperfect and enjoy it.

Hello Friday... You are finally here!

It's Friday again and I cannot be more happy.  I have planned a very busy day at work, but will do my best to leave a little earlier than usual for "Summer Hours" in honor to the long hard working week.
I also have plans to have dinner with friends tonight, and a wine night tomorrow with other friends...  and just be at home after being traveling for work this week.

I believe that the best way to say something is just saying it as simply as it can be, from the heart, with sincerity...  So, what's the better way to welcome my favorite day of the week?  Simply saying Hello, hello and hello!

This is a simple card to say Hello...

Patterned paper in the background, stamped banners with stamped circles and an imperfect, hand cut, festive, inked, washi-tape heart.... (sounds a lot like my own heart... LOL!)

As simple as that... just saying hello.

And wishing you a great weekend!

Tks for your comments.
