All About Feathers CAS Challenge

Hello Sunday.

The Outlawz Challenges CAS Sunday challenge today is to use feathers in any way in your CAS project.

I immediately thought of my feathers stamps I haven't used enough and stamped the three of them in different colors.  These are from Unity Stamp Co.

Also stamped a sentiment (stamp from Spanish Memories), and cut by hand and placed just below the stamped feathers... and finished my CAS card!!!

I had cut one of the feathers as mask, so I had enough time to put in it some color and make an ATC.

Cut the patterned paper, stamped a sentiment (Unity Stamp Co), placed the feather with a button and added three pearls.  Another CAS project using feathers.

Thank you Outlawz... I had an excuse to use these stamps and to do some scrapping today.  I sometimes really need to cut at least a little paper... I'm addicted... LOL.
I go to my room very concentrated on just cleaning up a bit, and ended up doing something...

Happy Sunday!

CAS Heart

Happy Sunday.

For today's CAS Sunday Challenge at the Outlawz I made a card that is all heart.

I stamped the image in three different backgrounds and repeated it.

Hearts are glued with foam squared to make them pop.

At left a ribbon and the sentiment.

Tks for stopping by.

A little card...

Outlawz' Sunday CAS Challenge this week was open to any theme as long as the card was 4.25" square.  I made a very CAS card for St Valentine's.

On a red cardstock I placed some washi tape and a punched border.

I used a leftover of a black circles border I had used for another layout (THIS ONE), and combined with two chipboard letters to give life to an XOXO message.

Very CAS...  clean, simple, with open space and easy to reproduce.

I hope you liked it.
I enjoyed making it so much that I made another one... but I will post it next Friday...  Stay tuned.

All White CAS

It's Sunday, and as simple as it sounds, I haven't done half of what I planed.  Just household stuff, some diligences on the internet, and little things... but all has got complicated a bit...  No big issue... I leave it to God... I just went with the flow of the day.

And my friends at Outlawz posted a CAS challenge that I found quite interesting.  All White.  Yes... All white... You could color stamped images or sentiments but all cardstock and embellishments must be white.

I was exposed to "all white" idea recently.. when making my anniversary card. Remember?  But it was because of the crystal theme.  They kind of mentioned to be inspired by snow for this challenge.  When I read "white" I thought of purity, simplicity, honesty...  gratefulness...  so I went for a Thank You card.

I embossed the background and added a punched border for different textures.  The circle simulating a flower was made with a strip, scoring multiple times and then shaping it into the circle.  I made a similar one for my 15th Anniversary card I just mentioned.   Have you seen it?  Come on!  You can take a look HERE.

Then with the stamped leaves, I tried first to use them in a different way.  I just wanted to be as white as possible so I cut them thinking they'd look nice with the shape but no lines, using the other side... but did not like it... so I just left them with the black lines from the stamping, but no coloring.  (I bet if colored green they'd look nice too).

I really hope you liked this card and the challenge.  Have a white Sunday!  Thanks for your comments.

Let's unwind, it's Friday!

Oh... I know it sounds repetitive...  But how happy I am it is already Friday!

This week I've been so busy, sick, with lots of things at work and home, and stressed with so many things going on in my mind.

Well, well... but it is Friday already!

I made this CAS card to relieve some stress... just as an excuse to say I made something this week ...  Sometimes, scrapbooking, for me is not just a hobby but a need.

I used these "wine series" stamps from Unity, which I love...  (I loved this one even more when I've got the analogy behind it.  Since English is not my first language I had to look into internet translator to understand the meaning of the sentiment... don't laugh at me...LOL).

I am taking some antibiotics for an acute sinusitis and throat infection I had this week... so I guess I will not have wine today... but Cheers! anyway.

Have a great weekend.

I entered this card for the Sunday CAS at Outlawz Challenges... and also linked to Unity's FWF... Don't forget to leave a comment for the opportunity to win spectacular stamps.

A Holiday Present!

Oh yeah... Sunday is over... a few minutes ago (my time).  Tomorrow is Monday... crazy Monday!

But to finalize the weekend I made a card for the Outlawz CAS Sunday challenge... featuring presents. I have some stamps and patterned paper with presents... but I didn't really want to use those.. Since this is CAS challenge, it's cool to add a little bit of imagination and still be true to the style.

So I cut a little square with patterned paper and added some ribbon to  simulate a present.

Love how it looks and it is unique.

Here's the whole card.

Have a wonderful week!

2 For the Sketch of 1

Hello... Happy middle of the week!

I received some stamps I ordered recently from Unity...  There were grab bags among them and the stamps included were a pleasant surprise.  One of them was this beautiful Christmas tree I just love.

So I made a card using the sketch of the November KOM Sketch Challenge from Unity.

I stamped the tree with green ink and added green embossing powder before applying heat with the gone.  Love the effect (the photo doesn't make justice but you can get the idea).

This is the sketch:

And this is the whole card:

Then I realized this sketch was very suitable for a CAS card... so I was ready to make another one and thought of the current The Outlawz Challenges Sunday challenge.  This time I used another one of the surprise stamps showing a tower of sweet cupcakes.   Mmmmmm...   I rotated the card to make it vertical.

I hope you liked my cards...  And I hope you leave me a comment.  I really enjoy reading them.

Have a nice rest of the week!

My first Christmas card this year!!!!

Happy Saturday to you all!

I've finally made my first Xmas card this year.  It's a CAS styled card and it's ok for the start... to see if I finally get the mood for Xmas... 'cause every time I start, my project evolves to something else... LOL!

So, I'm entering this one to the C4C current challenge which is about using a bow in your project.  Label is C4C164.  I've been thinking for a while on using a little felt bow in a project.  I actually had other ideas in mind... more towards birthday banner in a card... which I probably will put in practice in future projects... but when I started to make the card, the idea evolved and ended up making a Christmas card.

Well... sometimes it's the mood, or whatever is called in our minds that set the  path of creativity.  But as I mentioned,  I needed to start making some Xmas cards anyway...

I also used a winged friend and I will share this card with the Outlawz CAS challenge group.

The bow was made cutting a 1"x 1 3/4" rectangle, sewing the center and tying with a felt strip.  I thought of also using a button in the center but went with a more delicate touch with the strip.

The stamp is from The Angel Company.  It's a stamp I've had for a while.

Patterned paper is from DCWV (It's Cafe Mediterranean collection... nothing to do with Christmas... that's why I used it for this card... LOL).

Hope you liked my card... and now I can finally say I made a Christmas card this year.  :)

I am thankful!

Happy Friday...

I am thankful for a productive week at work... for family... for love... for everyday miracles... for the opportunity to enjoy life...for all God's creation!!!

You know, Fall season is not a big deal in my beautiful Puerto Rico.  We do celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving, but the "season" changes themselves are not too noticeable as in other places in the world.  So when I think Fall, I think gratitude.  And that's my spirit today... Just wanted to share that...

Here's a CAS card to reflect that sentiment.

I simply used strips of papers and combined together.

I placed two of the strips with 3D foams to provide some dimension.

Stamps are from Unity, both the sentiment and the leaf.

So, today I am thankful... Hope this inspired you to think of all the things you can be thankful for.  And... very important... I almost forgot....  Thank you for stopping by, for your comments... I am very thankful for my followers and blogger friends.  :)

For a 50 year-old kid!

Woo hooo!  Today's a Holiday!...   I have to admit though that since I have so much work to be done at the office, sometimes I just can't enjoy the time off...  so I'll need to keep on learning new ways to free my mind!

I made this card last week for a co-worker who would turn 50!
I used a sketch from The Outlawz Challenges... and my card was featured!  Yeih!!!!  I am so glad they liked my card.

I used green as the base color 'cause that's this man's favorite color... and tried to make the card masculine...  for an "not so young" man who's very young at heart.

I also had some finishing touches inside the card.

Gave some dimension with pop-up squares...

He loved the card very much...  We took him for lunch and gave it to him, with messages from the whole team.

Hope you liked my card too...  And enjoy the rest of the long weekend!

Multiple Challenges!

Dear friends...  Let me share with you two cards I made just for fun and some challenges...

They were mainly for the Chalk N Stock but then I realized the linky was closed and I couldn't enter but I had fun... don't worry about me :(...

For the first one I used a border punch and cut some lace strips in cardstock, which I colored with chalk and glued to the card base.  I also used another punch to cut the scalloped oval where you see the TAC stamp "P is for princess" sentiment, and then glued to red cardstock and cut the border with scissors.

I also stamped some damasks (also from TAC)... and a CAS card has been completed.

I was going to link this post to the Chalk n' Stock Challenge.  The provided a bingo so you can match the requirements and I chose the second horizontal line which includes:  punches, color, cardstock, glue and scissors.

But they allow a double entry for the challenge, so I made another card...

For this one please note I painted the oval and green strip cardstock with chalk.  I also colored with chalk a separate piece of cardstock where I stamped the Xmas tree and then cut with scissors.  Both the tree and the sentiment are from Scrappy Cat stamps.

For this card I used a sketch from Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, and also chose the Xmas theme thinking of the cool weather from Outlawz Challenges Sunday CAS.

I hope you liked my cards and that you are having a great Sunday...

See you next time... (well, write / read you next time... LOL! )...

Shabby Chic, Me?

Hello everybody.  Happy 4th. of July.  Here in Puerto Rico most are enjoying a Holiday and off work rainy Wednesday.  So sad for those who chose outdoor activities, but will probably enjoy anyway.  I'm at home doing some chores and wanted to take some time to post this.

It's a card I made and it's totally not my style.

At first just wanted to create something for fun with some Unity stamps I won recently in a Friends with Flair activity.  Then I saw there was a challenge going on with the use of paint.  When I searched among the stamps I saw this one and remembered there was a Shabby Chic challenge from the Outlawz that I had read about but thought I was not going to participate.  But then I said...  I should...  precisely because it is a "challenge".  So I'm going to enter this card in both challenges.

I had to search wikipedia for shabby chic definition so I learned I needed to achieve a vintage romantic look and needed to distress and use fabric combined with vintage decor elements, such as pearls, flowers, buttons, etc.  (This is sort of what I interpreted from the definition...).

So I started with this chipboard frame and painted with blue acrylic paint.  Then I distressed it with sandpaper and painted those spots with pink distress stain paint.

I stamped the image in white cardstock and cut with spellbinders in an oval scalloped shape.  I painted the image with watercolor pencils and finished some touches with glossy accents (I'm afraid these details cannot be appreciated in these photos.).  I inked the edges with distress ink and some paint.

I then placed the frame in the card base and worked around it to place the image in the center and add some of the elements that will make the card the style I wanted.  I used several kinds of ribbon and fabric, pearls, buttons, flowers... and a chipboard shape with the word "princess".  I also stamped an additional sentiment (for you) in patterned paper and cut with banner shape.

Here's a photo with a vintage effect to complement the style.

I hope you liked it...  I enjoy stretching myself from time to time, making projects I wouldn't do naturally.  I kind of had made some of this style before but probably as part of a class or indirectly, but not from my own inspiration.  Don't forget to leave me your comments...  They light up my life!

Another CAS Sunday!

Happy Sunday my friends.  And Happy first day of July!!!!
For me this Sunday has been a clean and simple one!  Had a late breakfast and have been doing some "nothing"...  I mean, just relaxing, doing things here and there but without stress.  Sometimes we just need to relax and don't have deadlines or chores to do with pressure.
Today is one of those days for me.

And the Outlawz have this CAS challenge every Sunday... CAS stands for Clean and Simple style.  It's cool to be simple because sometimes less is more.  I like to participate from time to time because it is really a challenge for me.  I usually start simple but always look for more to add to the projects, so participating in this makes me control and finish with a simple design.

Look how simple I went with this star.  I assempled some strips of washi tape in cardstock, and then stamped this star on them. Then I cut it and created my own embelishment.  I could say it's like a continuation to my imperfect washi tape heart from my previous post... LOL!

And I stamped some other stars and added to the other washi tapes placed at the bottom.  Very clean and simple...  It was that easy and fast to do... that it made me want to make another one.

And this one was using same stamps into red cardstock and cutting the shapes.  Then assembled on top of three strips of washi tapes used as background.

I added some glossy accents and glitter to the center star of the big star.

Really clean and simple.  I think I really honored the challenged because it was very easy and fun to do with great results.   I'll enter this one in the Outlawz challenge today.

I hope you liked my cards.  Please let me know with your comment. :)  And have a happy Sunday and a great rest of the week.  Don't forget to be imperfect and enjoy it.
