Mother's Day ATC

Friends...
Here's the other ATC I talked you about in my latest post.  This is a CAS ATC using Unity Stamps.

I stamped the background by applying different distress inks to different sections of the same stamp.  Love the multicolor effect and imperfect look of the mix of inks.  It makes it look as if it was colored with a fine brush with watercolor painting.

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom and also used a dauber to apply distress ink on the edges.

ATC's were sent last week and everybody should have them, along with the other one made for my group.  Hope you like them.

Confidence ATC

Hello Friends!

It's been a while since my last post... I've been quite busy with other aspects of my life...  But's that's part of it; we are not just one thing in our lives but different roles, aspects, duties and more...

Remember I told you about me being part of an ATC Swap group using Unity Stamps?  Yes!  The group started in March and I shared the two ATC's I made that first time:  the Coffee Girl ATC, and the Butterfly Mixed Media ATC.  Click in the names to see them.

Today I am sharing one of the ATC's made for the April exchange.  It is titled "Confidence".

I stamped the beautiful image and colored it and the background with watercolor pencils.  I then stamped the sentiment, and cut two sections of the ATC as per a technique called "eclipse"... so I've heard... LOL.   The truth is that I've seen how many people has used this technique with letters but I wanted to apply it just to sections of the design to make it different.

So the base of the ATC is black and I adhered the little piece of art positioning the cut sections with dimensional adhesive, and slightly off the shape so the black borderline can be seen.  It really adds a special dimension and look which I love.

I made 10 of these.  They are all different and unique though following the same pattern, except for one in which I stamped the sentiment in a different place.  This one went for the group leader, Michelle.

Hope you liked my ATC's... Will share the other one very soon.  Have a great rest of the week, and thank you for your comments here in this post, and also in facebook and instagram.

Bye! :)

Hero Training Layout

Hello my friends...  Happy Saturday...

Let me share with you this layout I made using sketch inspiration from Paper Issues.  Decided to use a photo of my brother and friends in training to be firemen.  I already shared this with my friends at Paper Issues as part of the monthly challenge.

My brother has been a good man in general... with flaws like all people... or maybe a little more than average...  And he has been through a lot... some things because of natural consequences of bad decisions, but some just really bad luck.  I always say he should write a book because there's almost nothing I can mention that he hasn't experienced or gone through...

But he has so many talents too... one thing he's always had is this gift to help others, specially elder or sick people, or in need.  That is one thing he's always done with his heart.

For the last couple of months he's been attending an academy to become a hero... a fireman...  and I think this is the job of his life... He'll do perfect because he has gone through so many things that have made him brave and strong, that this is like the accumulation of all his experiences in one task.

So I just wish him the best and hope he really achieves this as expected and that he enjoys being who he is and who he is becoming.

For the layout I used a patterned paper as base, and other design paper and cardstock for the circles and other elements.  I also used stickers, rub ons and chipboard and foam letters combined.  I even used some glossy accents with glitter to add some shiny spots here and there.  You can refer to the original sketch at the end of this post.  Hope you like my page.

My brother is the one at right in the photo.

Bee-autiful Card

Bee-autiful day to you today!  How's it going?

Me?  Just stopping by to share a very CAS card recently made...

All you need is....A stamped bee with glossy accents and dimensional adhesives...

And a stamped flower bunch repeated several times and colored to life.

I love how simple and nice it looked this way...    It is suitable for a simple note, without any specific occasion.   Would you add a sentiment or leave just like that?

Happy Spring

Are you all enjoying Spring?

Well... in my beautiful Puerto Rico is like whole year Summer.  We can have some rain (and even Hurricanes) during its season, and a couple of degrees below average in Winter... but it is really warm and humid all year long.

So this thing about Spring being already here... is just like the start of Summer for me. LOL!  It has been very hot the last couple of weeks.

Anyway, I made this card about spring... And one thing you do notice is the flowers and trees being flourished in a different way... It's like they are happy.  We are specially fond of flowers and trees growing these days because we saw how a Hurricane just destroyed a lot in our island... so watching how it is turning green and colorful again is a blast.

The card is very simple...  Stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.  Hope you like it.

Scrap Lift from Paper Issues

 Hello Paper Lover Friends...

I am sharing this layout I made scrap lifting another layout from Paper Issues.  They continuously have challenges going on so you can keep active on creating paper beauties.  Facebook page HERE.

The idea of scrap lifting is making your own creation using there reference of a fabulous original one.  For me, it works more or less like a sketch, but the difference is that you are already in a visualization phase because you are seeing colors, textures and embellishments already applied... vs when using a sketch, that you are just looking at a guidance on graphic positioning.  Either way is fun.  It's always amazing to create our own things and just come up with original ideas of our own, but the  inspiration you can get from other people and their great work is also valid in this great process of creating.

I used a photo of our 20th wedding anniversary.  It was a work day in and we were really tired.  The plans we had for a special day and # of years like this were already cancelled in our minds... but we wanted to "mark" the day and we decided to go eat something out and just feel we were celebrating.  After all, every moment together should be a celebration.  And we had a drink commemorating our boyfriend-girlfriend time...

For the scrap lift I cut several and chose 8 circles from different patterned/design papers scraps.  Never underestimate the power of being a hoarder and not throwing away any piece of papers that you think you might use in the future.  Instead of sewing or drawing in the same circle, as the original layout, I opted to doodle in the outside of each circle.

I established the title with chipboard letters and completed with a handwritten touch.  It says FELIZ (HAPPY in Spanish), and "Aniversario" (Anniversary in Spanish).  I also framed the photo with several embellishments and notice that I distressed base paper on top and bottom and placed on another color cardstock to complete the touch of vibrant colors on white.

This is the fabulous original layout.  Be inspired by both pages and make your own today.

Don't forget to follow me on Facebook or Instagram under "Scrapper Myra".  You can also see photos of my projects in Pinterest, under same name.

Happy day!

Belated Easter card

I made this card before Easter...  It doesn't really have a specific Easter message but using a little chicken can count as Easter spirit...

Very simple layout using patterned paper to frame the center of card... then image stamped in white with blue cardstock layer and placed with dimensional adhesives.

Sentiment was stamped in same color used for the frame above with image, and hand cut to simulate ribbon/banner.  Used dimensional adhesive in the center and embellished with enamel dots.

The image was colored with watercolor pencils, and a detail of glossy accents were added to the flower.

Hope you like it.

Noche Buena - layout

During last Christmas season as a whole we were very low key and we decided to stay with family and friends during all special days.  I think we had just passed a very sad experience with Hurricane Maria, and some people still didn't have basic services as water and electricity, and we didn't feel we were in any position of being celebrating.

On Dec 24th we were at home.  Besides my mom, my neighbors came by and my beautiful goddaughter niece with her sister.

I wanted to make a layout page about it to have memories documented.  It was so cool to have them all home, but specially my niece, who has become such a beautiful and good woman.

The simple page has a one color page as base, and then I used half die cut Xmas paper design to display the title.  I used two colors of letters for the title.

Photos were arranged at the opposite side with different chipboard stickers, rub-ons, washi tapes and sequins, as details for embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by.

Me Time layout

Hi...

I had some time off from work last December...   After a huge Hurricane experience and all the struggles without basic services, plus responsibilities and pressures, I needed to relax.  It was really the first time in years I can think of having some vacation time alone.  So I wasn't traveling or anything but I also wanted to make sure I saw some key people, and also was sure I was going to spend a one day for pampering myself.

So before returning to work in early January I went to a spa for facial and massage.  That day I also cut my hair and just relaxed.

I made a layout about it.  I usually come to this spa with friends or when celebrating one of our bdays, and I've been frequently in charge of making the appointments and coordinate, so coming alone was really cool because I actually relaxed a little bit more... LOL!

For the page I used a shiny beige cardstock and used patterned paper to frame pictures.  I used circles arranged to balance the page and support tittle and convey message of relaxing time.

Wooden clocks, the spa logo in a circle, and enamel dots... among other elements, are part of the embellishments.  Also note how I combined different chipboard letters on top of others to make a more interesting title.

Thank you for stopping time.   Have some "me time" whenever possible.

Flower Baskets

So I keep on get inspired by current Photo Inspiration from Unity Show and Tell group in facebook.

The photo has a bicycle with orange flowers and a brick wall as background... and all I can see first is the flowers.... LOL.

So I used these flowers and basket stamps to create some CAS cards with same images.

First one features blue/purple flowers.

I used masking technique to make flowers be on front panel.  Flowers image was stamped three times using masking too so they weren't stamped on top of each other.

Did the same with the second card.  This one features greens and yellows.  I stamped more flowers and arranged to show some in front panel and some behind the basket using masking technique.

The third one... using same technique features yellow and orange colors.  I specially like this one more... I guess it's the combination of colors and how they go with the patterned paper used for the background. I didn't even add any sentiment.  Just as is.

Hope you like them all...

Another Travel Card

And we continue with another travel themed card.

For this one I created a vintage background.  First I applied brown watercolor painting.  Then I created a distressed effect by applying other color in the edges.  It is a lighter brown that contrasts very well but when mixed with the darker shade it creates a third color which is kind of mustardy.

Finally for the colored background I applied distress ink directly from pad to create lines and geometric shades.  I stamped the names of different destinations (it's all one stamp :) from Unity Stamp Co.), and this was framed in a distressed cardstock and then placed in the card base.

The airplane image was stamped and then covered with glossy accents for a dimensional and glossy look that I love.

Here we go... This card just made feel I should get away and go on vacation.

Yellow Flowers Card

Happy Easter!

Hope you have a great Easter Sunday relaxing, with family, or just crafting!

Made this card for my mother in law.  She loves yellow and all vibrant colors.   Thought it was cool to make a yellow cardstock base card.

I used then soft green to frame a piece of patterned paper with baker's twine detail.  Flowers were painted with watercolor pencils and then I added a little glossy accents to make them shine.

The card was made as an Easter greeting but I decided to use another sentiment related to the flowers themselves.

Hope you like it.

I will share this with Unity Show and Tell Facebook Group for the inspiration photo challenge.
