Halloween... Trick or Trip...

Happy Halloween my friends!  I love Halloween!  It is an opportunity to have fun impersonating a character, an artist, a role, whatever...  I think that everything has a positive side and as long as a day like this make us be with our friends and share good things, it's so cool.  I've been a policewoman, singer Selena Quintanilla, a clown, gipsy, nerd, Cleopatra... and so much more.  Even though I don't have kids, I love to see how they enjoy a positive get together with friends and family.

I am out of town on a vacation trip... and I haven't been able to do scrapbooking... but I scheduled this post to say hello and picked some very very very (really) old projects to share with you...

What about this page with my crazy neighbors?

Or this cool hand made paper piecing of a circus tent to give life to this page with my co-workers?

In these pages, we were Hollywood artists at a friend's birthday.  (This wasn't really Halloween but we were wearing costumes so it's ok...)

This is a party favor made with love a couple of years ago...

So was this one...

And these...

Hope you have a wonderful Halloween... I'll be home soon and I hope that when that happens and I get to read my emails, I find out I have a lot of comments from my blogger friends...

Boo!

Mini Album

Do you like mini albums?  I do.  I admit I don't make them very frequently but when I do, the thing I like most is that they are unique.  I've made trees, school buses, squares, circles... all kind of shaped mini albums...  Some inside cans, with canvas, chipboard or cardstock... so cool.  But as I said, the cool thing is that they are personalized because they are custom made.

I recently made this one for a 1year old baby... (well, for his parents)...  It's like a story told by him about his first year of life.  Let me share some of it with you...

This is the cover... it has hand cut balloons, and big letters with the kid's initials, framed with washi tapes.  I also added a rub on as sub headline.

First page is titled "This is ME"... with the picture of a sonogram...

Another set of pages show the furry friend of his...  it's a dog called Messi.  They love each other so much.

Baptism...

First Thanksgiving and Christmas...

A special message about how happy this kid is and the good times he has with his fun parents...

And these special photos from a contest his father won about "what he loves about being a father..."  So cute!

I even added his favorite song so he can remember when he's older and hopefully takes a look at this album...

And how cool to have tags so his relatives and friends can add messages in his birthday party so the journaling is going to be priceless!

There are lots of more pages... but just wanted to share with you how cool it feels to do something special for somebody...

Hope you liked it... and somehow got inspired...  Go make a mini album now...

I Miss Your Face!

It's me!  Happy again for another Friday... and specially this one because I am going on vacation.... (can you hear me screaming?).  Thank you God!

I had 2 days off from work during Summer, but have not been able to have longer period of vacations in a year!!!! I am very tired...  and I've traveled a lot but basically to work... But now is my turn and I'm going on vacation...  I'll tell you about it when I come back.  It's a dream come true!

The thing is that I will be kind of "disconnected" the next two weeks.  I think I am going to miss your "faces"(usually substituted by your comments on the blog, LOL!!!).

Anyways, last night I started to create just for fun.  I was supposed to be packing or doing something for the trip, but I was so tired coming home late from office that my mind was in another planet.

I was thinking on making a suitcase tag or maybe an embellishment for a layout or something...  but I didn't have the results I had in my mind...  I do like what I could finish though...

I wanted to mix some media to free my spirit and mind, so I cut a piece of patterned paper as base, to which I adhered half a doily and stamped one of my favorite Unity stamps (which is this lady without face), then applied embossing powder and embossed with the heating gun.

I absolutely love the texture that came out when combined the stamp in the doily and the embossing.

So I used yellow acrylic paint with a brush and my fingers, to add some color to the image and the frame, and added some glittered dots of glossy accents.  I have to admit I had bought some acrylic paintings a long time ago and they were asking me to use them so bad.... So I picked the yellow one so they didn't keep yelling at me...  LOL!

I even painted some lines of the pattern with watercolor pencils to accent some of the colors...  If you look closely there's some purple shades in the patterned paper... these are not part of it, it's watercolor.

Stamped a sentiment, added some baker's twine and placed in a blue card-stock base...   Then stamped with flowers and backgrounds the card base...  But again, wasn't completely satisfied, so I added this tulle ribbon in the back before adhering to the card base.

And I liked it!  I really love to mix different textures.  I feel freedom when I can stamp, and paint with a brush, and with a pencil, and my fingers...  The bad thing is the mess I have in my table and that I have to fix before leaving on vacation...

Thanks for stopping by... and thanks for your comments.

I'm going to link this to Unity's blog for the Friday's Friends with Flair, so when you leave a comment you are also participating for the opportunity to win fabulous stamps.

Have a great Friday!!!

A post about wine... for a change!

It's been a while since I last posted something about wines...  that does not mean I have not tasted wine all this time, LOL!!!

These are some wines I tasted about a month or two ago... It was an invitation from a scrapbooker friend who also loves wine and she frequently attends activities with a group.

This Albariño was interesting...

And this Albillo was very good...  (first time for me trying this white grape).

Another Albariño, which I liked even more.

White Merlot? Yes, you read right...
I learned white merlot is made the same way as White Zinfandel.  The red grapes are crushed, and are left to have very brief contact with the skin... which results in a pink liquid or juice to be fermented.  Very refreshing.  People often describe a hint of raspberry.

These are the reds we tried that day...

This was my favorite among them all... named Solpost.   It was a blend of Grenache (Garnacha), Carignane (Cariñena), and Cabernet Sauvignon (these are all red grapes).  For me, it was a very well balanced wine... Just the right strength and fruitiness... But you know... the beauty of tasting wines is that the best one is the one in your glass...

This is my friend Nilsa and I...

And this is a photo she took of my husband and I... like we were inside the glass, isn't it cool?

Cheers!

Have  a great week!

It's my birthday!

Yes, it is...

I say, unfortunately, I am traveling for work... but then I think... maybe it's fortunately!  There is something positive in everything we live... Sometimes, we just don't see it at the moment but there is.  For a given reason, God wanted me to spend my birthday traveling alone.  Maybe he wanted me to be alone and think more of him.  Maybe he wanted my husband and I to have time to miss each other.  Maybe, he just wanted me to do something different... whatever, right!

The thing is I'm going for a convention in Colorados Springs.  Never been there!  I'm looking forward to it...

Here's a picture of my beautiful Puerto Rico left behind...

And this is Dallas when I was landing for connection...

And here I am...

I probably won't be able to share any new projects during the next couple of weeks, but hope you miss me... until we meet again.

Have a great Sunday!

Ah! You are thinking what?  How many years am I celebrating today?  Well, one more!  LOL!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Happy Friday my friends!

As you might know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Numerous activities are held everywhere... most of them to create conscious about the illness and the importance of prevention.  As support and solidarity to the cause, the company I work with sponsors the Susan G Komen's 5K Race for the Cure locally every year.  It's a great opportunity to be involved in a great cause in both, professional and personal point of views.

The survivors who participate in the events are admirable.  I really have a lot of respect for those who have fought against cancer of any type.  I had a "warning" once when something was found in a mamography study... and at the end it wasn't anything too serious... but I have to tell you, the process of finding out results, and conducting studies, and so, and waiting...  is very stressful.  So imagine when these people find out they have cancer and have to receive treatment, etc.  It's tough!

This year my husband ran the race and I walked it (well, tried to go faster than walking sometimes, but don't know how to call it...LOL!).  We did it for ourselves, for the survivors, for the people we know who have fought against cancer (even if it's not breast cancer), and for general support.

Can you see in this picture the most exciting person arriving from the race?

And here's a photo opportunity we created for my job... People stood in front of this backdrop to simulate they were arriving to the finish line.  Very cool.

Finally... this blog's mainly about scrapbooking, right.  So I made this CAS card to share with you my feeling during this race...  It's a message of hope, faith, solidarity and life appreciation.  I really hope you like it.

I used patterned paper, washi tapes, baker's twine, an eyelet, cardstock and stamps (both are from Unity).  I colored the ribbon/butterfly with watercolor pencils and added some glossy and glitter to the ribbon section.

Thank you for stopping by... your visit and comments are really inspiring and I feel loved... hehehehe... Have a nice weekend!
