Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Happy Friday my friends!

As you might know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Numerous activities are held everywhere... most of them to create conscious about the illness and the importance of prevention.  As support and solidarity to the cause, the company I work with sponsors the Susan G Komen's 5K Race for the Cure locally every year.  It's a great opportunity to be involved in a great cause in both, professional and personal point of views.

The survivors who participate in the events are admirable.  I really have a lot of respect for those who have fought against cancer of any type.  I had a "warning" once when something was found in a mamography study... and at the end it wasn't anything too serious... but I have to tell you, the process of finding out results, and conducting studies, and so, and waiting...  is very stressful.  So imagine when these people find out they have cancer and have to receive treatment, etc.  It's tough!

This year my husband ran the race and I walked it (well, tried to go faster than walking sometimes, but don't know how to call it...LOL!).  We did it for ourselves, for the survivors, for the people we know who have fought against cancer (even if it's not breast cancer), and for general support.

Can you see in this picture the most exciting person arriving from the race?

And here's a photo opportunity we created for my job... People stood in front of this backdrop to simulate they were arriving to the finish line.  Very cool.

Finally... this blog's mainly about scrapbooking, right.  So I made this CAS card to share with you my feeling during this race...  It's a message of hope, faith, solidarity and life appreciation.  I really hope you like it.

I used patterned paper, washi tapes, baker's twine, an eyelet, cardstock and stamps (both are from Unity).  I colored the ribbon/butterfly with watercolor pencils and added some glossy and glitter to the ribbon section.

Thank you for stopping by... your visit and comments are really inspiring and I feel loved... hehehehe... Have a nice weekend!
