A dark sad layout...

I miss my dog son everyday.   We lost him almost a year ago. My heart is broken every time I talk about him and remember all the details about his great personality and all the love he gave us.  We were lucky to have the best dog as a son.

I was wanting to make a layout about this feeling but sadness overcame. I finally made this page and tried to transmit the feeling. I feel I am hurting and I feel very sad, so the black and red coloring on different elements over a gray textured cardstock is on purpose.  The burning sensation I feel inside is hopefully communicated through these colors and the burnt look.

I framed the photo with texture and lots of elements to communicate how full my life was when he was among us.   I included a sticker that says "furry friend" but I put an X on the "friend" word and substituted by "son".

I also stamped a sentiment several times. It says "missing you everyday".

I placed the burlap and corrugated paper with mod podge and used stencils with paints and sprays. I enjoyed the process and have to admit it was kind of a relief to make this page.  But I also cried a lot.  I am fine. This is just part of the process and creating is always a good way to feel better.

Hope you like it.

Live the Now!

Do not get consumed by the future.  Live in the present. Enjoy the moment.  The little things.  The Now.

That's what we always say or advice.  But let's be honest. Sometimes we forget.  Once in a while I catch myself worrying too much about the future. Too many things in my mind that make me get stuck in these thoughts sometimes. But I suddenly talk to myself and remind me that it is NOW that counts.  Yes, we can plan, but not forgetting the present. I need to believe in myself more than anyone else to enjoy life in the present. I can do it!

Current Mixed Media Place moodboard reminded me of that.  (You can see it at the end of this post). I made this layout as a reminder to myself that I believe in me... and that I believe I can enjoy life without worrying too much.

I sprayed some teal paint in a craft cardstock base which I had trimmed a little to make it smaller than original 12" x 12".   I love this color that brings me peace, and hope.   I added some blue borders for more contrast in the composition.

I also used brown stain to trace a path.  The path of my thoughts. Not an easy path so that's why is dark. Added some wood people that represent that I am among lots of different people and that I should believe in me first.

I used modeling paste to trace the doily with a stencil. Love the girly delicate touch as center of my thoughts and the frame for my photo.  The only pink element is near there to establish that.

Other elements such as vellum hearts, enamel dots, and sequins... embellish and represent my thoughts.

I stamped the dream catcher... self explanatory. And I added some glitter and glossy to it. It shines!  Because a dream catcher is a huge part of enjoying the present and having positive thoughts.  Never stop dreaming.

Hope you like my layout.  Besides sharing it with The Mixed Media Place, I will also share with my friends at Unity Show & Tell Facebook page.

Celebrate YOU card

Hello all!

I am sharing a card that is suitable for all celebration occasions... I guess.

I was inspired by current Curtain Challenge mood picture. You can see he link and the picture at the end of this post. I will also share this card with my friends at Craft Stamper Magazine blog. There's an "anything goes" challenge right now. You can see it here:   http://craftstamper.blogspot.com/2017/02/take-it-make-it-challenge-february.html?m=1

For the card I used a white card base and added a layer on light blue patterned paper to which I stamped the sentiment (stamp from Unity Stamp Co), and later embossed for texture (embossing folder from Darice).

The banner was made using vellum. I previously painted with different media and left dry for a while. I used Color Blooms from Prima, distress inks from Ranger and more.
When dried I cut the desired shape and this made my unique pattern banner.

I added tissue paper, and beautiful Pom poms from Glitz Designs. Finally several sequins.

It feels great to end up with a unique design card. Hope you like it.

Here's the challenge reference at Curtain Call and link:

What about a TBT?

Hello my friends.  It's been a while since my last post and I've been very busy at work so haven't done any new projects.

I thought that sharing some old fave projects as a "Throwback Thursday" was a good idea.

Here are some of past projects that I love.  I will share some others in my Facebook page and Instagram too. If you follow me there, check them out.

All colors are allowed by LOVE!

Made this card the other day and loved this Stamp I hadn't used before.  Had it for a while but was able to play until now.

The image features all these hands with little hearts and such a cool sentiment which is more a call to action that we really need nowadays.  With all these changes in the world of politics, and how the economy is impacting so many people and so many countries, all is need to say is:  Love one another.  If we could only just make it happen!!!!  That would solve a lot of issues.

For the card I used corrugated paper as base and half of a doily for layering. I stamped and colored the image and distressed the white card stock.  You won't believe I used a baby wipe (Chubs type) which had used to clean the color sprayed on the corrugated paper, and added color to the card stock. Love the effect. Also added lots of sequins ... small, large, heart shaped, and more.  A bow tie with bakers twine also added to my composition.

Do you like it?  If yes, please, whenever you are... love one another.
