Summer Fun!

This Summer has been very rainy. We've even had tropical storms passing by, and expecting another one for next week.  But we should not complain.  It's Summer all year long in my beautiful Puerto Rico anyway.

I thought I was not going to be able to participate in FWF today, but I remember I had this layout for posting today... I just could not do it earlier but here it is.

I used several stamps from Unity Stamp Co.

This delicious ice cream cone, the Summertime ticket....

"The Perfect day" sentiment, and the word "Fun"... This one I stamped it several times in different colors to match the colorful fun layout.

I placed this photo FPO... I haven't decided if I will use this one.  I probably won't.  I usually make layouts inspired by pictures but this was an exception.

Please... have a great weekend...  I will travel to Dallas for work next week so wish me good luck and good results.

SEM July Sketch Challenge and a Special Thank you!

Hello my friends... Happy day!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles is a blog I really love.  They have great challenges that are very tied to one of the things I love more about scrapbooking... which is you can scrap about ordinary things and document your life...  with all your blessings and things that are not things... you know what I mean?  I really love to scrapbook about special days, and birthdays and so on... but also about the table we've had for so many years, or the feeling I've got when I was sick...  and the blessing to have a house... the acceptance of less positive things you have to live with, and so on.
But anyway... They have a sketch challenge going on and I thought it was cool to participate since it's been a while that I don't contribute to their challenges.  You can find about it here:   July Sketch Challenge, and following is the inspiration sketch:

Ok... putting that aside, I have to tell you that I received all these goodies from friend Tameko.    She's a real artist and I know her from Friday Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co. since she usually participates and I do too.... You can know more about her here:  Creating my Peace.
I left a comment on her blog a couple of weeks ago, and I resulted the winner... Isn't it cool to receive these kind of surprises by mail?  I bet every scrapper loves to be surprised with crafty goodies.  Thank you Tameko...

So...  that was the introduction...  SEM Sketch Challenge + New goodies + need to make a bday card for my boss =  Scrapbooking time...

I made this card for SEM Sketch Challenge using the new goodies that Tameko sent to me.

Loved this concept of circled borders and sentiments from Justrite brand, combined with different images or sentiments in the center...  plus I used Spellbinders and one of other stamps from Inkadinkado she sent.

The circle at center is popped out in all its layers...  not only because I wanted it to be the main one, but because it is also a twist mandatory for the challenge.  The leaves at left, which I cut from patterned paper, are also popped up with foam.

I decided not to paint the flowers in this image because the card was going to be colorful already and did not want to over-color it...  so I just applied some Glossy Accents in the center of the flowers and added purple glitter.  Love it!

In the sketch there is a proposed sentiment at the bottom left corner, but since I used other sentiments throughout the whole design, I included the "Happy Birthday" wish/sentiment inside the card.

At the end I inked a bit the white background to provide some unity to all the elements...

Hope you all liked it...  My boss' bday is today but she's on vacation so she won't see the card until Monday the 29th.  Hope she likes it then.

Tks for the comments.

Hey Beautiful!... Beautiful people, beautiful friends... beautiful life...  and beautiful Friday!

Sorry for my inactive behavior lately...  I am trying to rest better during the weekdays since I usually work during all day more than the regular 8-hour period, and then I try to exercise, be with my DH, and get some work done at night so the weekends are better... but then when do I get to scrap a little?
So for the last weeks, I've been away from scrapbooking to be able to go to sleep a little earlier.  This probably is going to last just a few weeks... LOL.

I missed last Friday's Friends with Flair from Unity... and I literally missed it.  I decided to skip exercise last night to be able to make this card to participate today.

I used the frame and sentiment stamps as main elements in the card over a craft embossed base.  This base was also distressed in the edges and pinky inked.  I also used fiber to simulate a flower... and a button covered with glitter.

I confess the button was brownish and matched perfectly with the card but then a little voice ordered me to put some glitter on it.

Here's a flashed photo of the card for a different view.

I think after all my card came out very very very very beautiful... don't you think?  I hope your Friday is very very very beautiful too!!!!!
Don't forget to leave your comment for an opportunity to win goodies from our friends in Unity Stamp Co.

A fun Sex and the City Card!

Hello dear friends.  Happy Friday.  I hope you had a great holiday yesterday.
I took today off as a one-day vacation, even though we don't have any specific plans for the weekend... but 4 days off in a row can be quite necessary sometimes...

This is a card I made for a friend last week.  She just turned 40... I have to say she looks sensational!  Her husband throwed a surprise party and the theme was Sex and the City...

I used Cricut's Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to cut a city.  I used these fabulous papers from DCWV All Dressed Up collection.  This is a very old collection, but I have so many papers in my scrapbook room that I'm not buying unless they are strictly necessary (or if I just can't resist!)...  LOL...   Seriously, I do buy scrapbooking stuff often, but when it comes to papers, I have to be careful because I really have a lot of stuff.  And, I am using them... I don't regret to have a full room as my scrapbooking sanctuary, but just need to be careful.

Anyway, the patterned paper already has these fabulous swirls and nice black background... and the glitter in the city is also part of the paper.

I added my friend's name followed by "and the city" with DCWV and Glitz Designs stickers.  The brad with the shoe is also from DCWV (same collection).

Inside the card I used DCWV paper, several stickers and stamps, AC numbers, border punches, and more...  But the main tool for the inside of the card was this fabulous stamp of these 3 girls with purses and drinks...  It is from Unity Stamp Co.  I had it and I had not used it before... so I was decided to use it ... no matter what...LOL!

I stamped it in the main cardstock, and also paper pieced the clothes stamping in other color and patterned papers, and also colored with different tools.

My friend loved her card...  Do you like it?
