Strong Woman

Friday is kind of my favorite day.  I know I have told you before.  It's really a normal work day and it is usually a day when one is very tired, don't you think?  But the simple fact it is the end of the weekdays and the official start of weekend... makes it great.

I recently acquired some new Unity stamps and this is one of them.  She's a beauty.  And the sentiment is just fabulous.   Love these messages related to women's strength and the way we can make it all happen no matter what.

I colored her with watercolor pencils and used also copics for the skin.

My husband saw this card and told me she looked like a friend....LOL  It's kind of true... Will have to tell her... (Vero... I will tag you on facebook!).

Hope you all liked the card... If you leave a comment you'll have a chance to participate in Unity Friends with Flair 'cause I will link this post today.

Tks for stopping by.

Got some coins?

Hello dear friends.  Stopping by to show you this project. It is a "piggy" bank... only without the piggy.  LOL

This was published in last issue of "Papeles y Más" magazine.

It is really a baby's food jar which was recycled.  I had lots of fun painting it with acrylic paint as base, then when dried, I stamped some images and painted them. The idea was to make it look kind of vintage and make the impression these images were painted directly and not stamped first, so imperfection was required.

I stamped the images by inking the stamps and rolling the jar on it. It was sooo cool.

I replaced the top with a patterned paper scalloped circle with the hole in the center, to insert coins.
Also tied some cord around the neck when completely dried.

I also sprayed some pinky color as a final and natural touch/look.

Hope you liked my project. I will link this post to Unity Stamp Co's Friday Friendswith  Flair, so make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity.

And come back and take a look at what makes me happy post from yesterday here:  http://winecheesescrapbooking.blogspot.com/2014/09/this-is-my-happy.html?m=1

Sketch Challenge from The Scrapbook Store

Here's another challenge from a local scrapbooking store...  Love that these kind of challenges make me work on projects and keep me active in the hobby.  It's not always I can participate, because I don't really have too much time, but I do everytime I can..

It's a sketch basically designed for a scrapbook page... Lovely, isn't it?

Well, I decided to use for a card instead of a layout page...  You know I like to change rules a bit...  And there's not really rules for a sketch.. Inspiration can lead to such different results from everybody!
I got inspired by the shape in the center which reminded me this stamp from Unity Stamp Co. which forms like a frame and has flowers at left.  I even stamped more of the flowers section and cut to add more at upper left and lower right corners.  The woman and the sentiment are from the same kit.

I used several distress and dye inks and watercolor pencils to provide color to this card.  Plus, I used a stencil from Latina Crafter and lots of sequins.

I am linking this to the original challenge in facebook (The Scrapbook Store), and also will share for the Friday Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co.

Pretty Friday... Pretty Please!

Hello Friday..
It's been a week without you...LOL

It's really been a week since I last posted something around here.  It's complicated.  The important thing is that the weekend oficially starts today.

This is a card I made last month for a special girl.  She's pretty inside and out... but above all, she's a happy person.  She's always full of energy and looking for the happy side.  She's the hyper kind of happy... I don't know how she does it but I think she's electric or maybe she's a robot, you know?  Don't tell her!

She also dressed up like Audrey Hepburn last Halloween, so I thought this sentiment was right cool for her birthday.

And since I had not shared the card before I think it is great to share today and link to Unity's Friday Friends with Flair.  So, leave a comment for a chance to win great stuff from Unity Stamp Co.

Have a great weekend.

More Thank You Cards...

Hi friends..  Hope this is a fabulous Friday for you... and a great beginning of a new month!  Welcome August!!!

For today's Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co, I'm sharing two cards.  These are part of a bunch I made for a friend who just got married and wanted to give some personalized cards to thank some special people during the wedding.  I already shared the Spanish part of them before (CLICK HERE).

This first card was for the maid of honor.  She's a scientist who loves dogs and the beach.  I combined a watercolor scene simulating beach in the background and used my Shari Girl.  I also included some hexagons to sort of represent the science side of the story... LOL.

The other card was for the wedding planner.  I combined digital embellishments by printing these messages I found with the "keep calm" theme.  Then assembled feminine elements and used a Unity sentiment as the main message.

Tks for stopping by and tks for your comments... You have no idea how much I need them!!!

For the Bride

Happy hello to you my friends.

Today is a Holiday in Puerto Rico... and it is one of the few I have the day off...

And today is the wedding of a special friend.  We used to work together and she always was a great and sweet girl...  a good person... who had gone thru a lot...  and those "thru a lot" in our lives make us stronger.

She moved to Miami a few years ago and started to build a different life... We are now so happy to know she's getting married and that she's happy.

Since we are in the mood of wedding... I thought it was appropriate to share this little envelope I made for the Papeles y Más magazine.  It was published in the recent edition of June-July.

I stamped the image (from Unity Stamp Co.) in vellum, and then cut.

Added pearls for a delicate touch and adhered to the embossed envelope.

Then finished with a sentiment also stamped in vellum and framed with card-stock and a ribbon bow.

The idea was to create a delicate, CAS, but full of feminine details project.  I think I made it.

I am linking this to Unity's Friday Friends with Flair.  You can leave a comment for a chance to win.  Don't forget to visit the other girls.

Have a great fabulous super Friday!

This Day... layout

HOLA!

It's Friday again and it's special...it always is.  There's always a reason to find a day special, don't you think?  We, as imperfect humans, usually notice very easily when something goes wrong or just unexpected...  but the truth is that there's always a good thing around all our happenings... and everything happens for a reason.  Believe me, if I don't remind myself about this everyday, I would be a different person.

So, I want to show you a layout I made about a weekend at a beach resort a year ago.  This project was published in the June-July edition of the magazine "Papeles y Más".  I used Unity Stamp Co stamps, combined with Teresa Collins papers and elements.

This stay was very special.  We were with our goddaughter and her dad, and we could bring our dogson with us to this place.  We love this place because of that.
I wanted to create a page that denotes this is a good memory so the use of black and white photo with all the wood, and brownish elements, gave me that.

I combined clusters of elements and balanced the page by assembling them diagonally, with the photo in the center.   I love how the stamps went perfectly with the pre-made elements and they seem to be part of a same kit.

Hope you like my page.  Go get your magazine if you haven't.  It is full of great ideas and there are a few publications from Scrapper Myra... :)
Also, let me remind you that you may follow me in facebook HERE.  Just for fun... to share our imperfect world and great hobby...

Remember to leave a comment in this post to be part of the Unity Friday Friends with Flair and have the opportunity to win fabulous high quality stamps.
Have a great weekend.

I love you mom

Today's my husband's birthday and I took the day off to be with him.  We hope to also celebrate with a get together tomorrow.  Let's celebrate life!
But don't have anything related to his bday to show you today... don't wanna ruin the surprise for him.  I'm sharing another Mother's Day card I haven't shown.  It's the one my husband chose for my mother in law.  I used several patterned papers to end up with multiple layers I just loved.

I first covered the base with two different patterned papers.

Then used this same paper to stamp the image and sentiment and also a piece from the other side.

Placed them like this and also added stamped lace in vellum.  Love the effect of the stamped vellum and specially in this stamp to simulate lace.

Then added the big butterfly, flowers and pearls.  Very delicate and feminine.

Hope you love it as much as my husband loved it for his mom.

I am going to link this to Unity Stamp Co.'s Friday Friends with Flair... so leave a comment for the opportunity to win beautiful stamps.

Jars of Love

Hello my friends...

Is this a great day or what?  Well, you decide!

For today's Friday Friends with Flair at UnityStamp Co., I decided to show you one of the cards I made for a class last month.  I actually made two sets of 5 cards for the class and this is the one I chose for my mom.

I used the "Jars of Love X 3" and "A Mother's Love" kits... Fabulous kits!  Click on the names to see them and keep reading for a change to win...

I stamped the jars in vellum and put some things inside these beauties.  Some people at the class did not know they could stamp on vellum.  I say you can stamp on any surface... using the right ink.  I recommend dye ink because it dries fast.  A pigment or distress ink wouldn't probably work well on vellum.  After all, you find out what you can or can't do by creating.  I don't like rules in my scrapbooking... LOL!

I filled one jar with flowers, another was just labeled and one was destined to carry hearts full of love.

Flowers were heat embossed. Hope you can see the detail.

And my mom loved the card!!!!

Hope you like it too.  I will be sharing the other cards in future posts.  Do you wanna see them?

IMPORTANT:  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity Stamp Co....  And, there's a double fun giveaway here.... If you go to my Facebook fan page HERE you can also win one of the two prizes I'll be giving away.  One is a Jars of Love x 3 kit and another one is the "A Mother's Love" kit.  These are the ones I used for this card.  I will giveaway to two lucky friends randomly chosen.  Just go there and like me if you haven't, and leave a comment in the post that linked this entry.  You have all weekend, so invite your friends to do the same.  I wanna read all your comments.

Have a great weekend!

Friday - MAMI layout

Happy weekend!  It is officially Friday!  Let's party!!!!  LOL.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

For today's Friday Friends with Flair I am going to show you a layout that was published at the "Papeles y Más" magazine.  It is dedicated to my mom, since we are already in May... I guess it is very appropriate.  Mother's Day is coming up soon.

I used several stamps as main elements in the page.  This bird in the close up here for example...  I stamped the image in the paper and part of the photo, and separately with pink ink in cardstock and cut to place on it and create some dimension.

These delicate hearts also stamped directly on paper in different ink colors and added pearls to simulate they are hanging.

The sentiment in vellum and the hexagons distributed for balance, are also stamped.

I hand-wrote my journaling at left, aligned with ribbon... It says:  Mom has always been a strong woman, willing to fight to go forward.  God bless her!.

Hope you liked it...   Go find it in the magazine.  This magazine is getting better and better in every edition...  Don't miss it.

(Note:  In the magazine, there was an error, and my friend Anya Lynet, from Maia Ink, was mentioned as the author of this layout.  Hope she doesn't mind.  I don't.  Have you seen some of her work?  Check it out HERE.)

Easter Mini Baskets

Hello Good Friday!  Hope my friends are relaxing spiritually and physically.

I didn't have time during the week to prepare for a Friends with Flair post (Unity Stamp Co.)...  not that I did not make any project, but posted them all and I like to post specifically for FWF and not repost anything.  So, thank God could make these to show before the linky is closed :).

I'm in a recycling mode lately.  Economic situation at home and country is not very healthy, so whatever I can do to ease the expenses, I do.  So for the Easter "mini baskets", I went with these soap boxes I've been reserving for a project.

I covered the first one with paper.

Added a border to help hide imperfections...

And made this fun front cover...  Just cut some strips and inked the edges...

Then fixed to the left with tape while arranged alternately facing back.

Then glued the base also facing back.

... trimmed.

Final result was this "basket" like cover.  I also hand cut some grass and embellished as shown.

Then I went for a second one. Covered with paper, added the borders and embellished with flowers and the sentiment.
I love how delicate this one resulted.

And finally a third one... covered with washi tape... knowing will be transparent but this is just the base.  I would cover then the see through sections with circles of patterned papers, little flowers and sequins.

Just need to put some candy and eggs inside...   Ready for a Happy Easter!  Glad I could do this and be able to link to Unity...  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win.

Will link it up to FWF... so leave a comment for a chance to win.

I will also share at Unity Show & Tell in Facebook for the Itty Bitty a Day challenge.

The callouts are frim patterned paper and the beautiful woman sillhouette and sentiment are Unity stamps.

I am ready to place it in my dynamic inspiration corner (dynamic 'cause it changes over time).

Have a great Friday and weekend!!!

Retro CAS Friday!!!

I have the perception this week went faster than any other.  Some people say that the older you get, the faster the time is perceived to you, since you have lived more and know how easy time goes by.  I guess when you are younger you feel there's not going to be an end, and then as you get older you suddenly realized all you have lived and how fast it went.

In this case, this week was full of work and lots of things to accomplish, so I guess that's why I had this perception of a faster week.  The thing is I am glad that today is already Friday!

I went retro with this card for the CAS Outlawz Challenges.  Do any of you remember an old phone booth?  I don't necessarily remember these red ones, but certainly some gray and blue ... LOL!

The card is CAS so it was made easily putting pieces of paper together and it is easy to reproduce.

I did some things and included some elements to support the vintage/retro look.  Some distressing ink to all edges provided an oldie look.  The dots, stripes and squares in the patterned papers helped a lot.    A half doily in the back (also inked) is key.  Finally, the golden eyelets helped a lot with the look I was trying to achieve.

These beautiful stamps (image and sentiment) are from Unity Stamp Co.  So I will link this up to Friday's Friends with Flair too...  Leave a comment for a chance to win great stamps.

A card for a SWAP

Hola. Feliz viernes!   Hello. Happy Friday!

I hope you have plans for a great weekend.  As you know, I am getting ready for the scrapbooking  convention coming up. So I will be very busy. Sure I will find some time for wine. LOL.

This is a card I made for a St Valentine's swap with the DT I am part of.  I did not want to use traditional hearts and kisses but honor the women's heart in this opportunity.  These women in my team are all hard workers, creative, and most of them have their own businesses. As myself, some work full time with a lot of pressure but still have time for the hobby and for the support of the magazine's DT.    Add to that the fact some of them havechildren  and other responsibilities.

So the message had to be inspiring... And appropriate for a woman's heart.   These stamps were perfect for that.

The recipient was a wonderful and talented woman:  Zulma.

She loved the card and I loved making it for her.
