Spain Shadow Box

I have been making special projects lately and have some pending ones for other people... But from time to time I need to make something just for fun.  Remember that if you feel stressed then the hobby is not a hobby LOL.

So I took these photos from a trip to Spain, which I had cut in different sizes... I selected a few to summarize my trip and have representation from each main place visited... Barcelona, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Madrid...

I used an "oldie" make and take kit I had from last year and assembled the photos in a chipboard and cardstock base, trimmed to the measure I needed.

Then I prepared a shadow box I had for them and placed chipboard support for the page.

I glued it in a way the center was fixed and the side edges were lifted.

Love the final result and the problem now is finding the right spot for it in the house. LOL.  The good thing is I can now remember my whole trip at a glance. What great memories!!!

Tks for visiting.  Love to read your comments.

Friends with Flair

Today is Friday and I am happy I can participate in Unity's FWF.

You know I love imperfection.  I can definitely appreciate and value a well colored image but I also love the imperfect look in some images, simulating different styles of painting and showing great work as well.

For this image I wanted a subtle coloring without perfect lines and just going from one color to another... So I just made up a technique... LOL.

I stamped the image in vellum to use as stencil. Measuring by eye and lifting the image, I applied color in cardstock in the corresponding areas.

I then slightly and taking seriously the imperfection, blended colors with water brush.

Finally, stamped the image on the colors. This way the image look sharp because the color was applied first as base.

I cut the image for a card.

Hope you like it. If so, don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity.

Have a great weekend.

Celebrating my goddaughter's 9th birthday!

My dear goddaughter turned 9 last Saturday. She had a blast at Chuck e Cheese's.

I made the "9" for the top of the cupcakes tower.

She wanted bright colors and Summer elements so I included waves and an umbrella among other things.

Here's the back side of the project.

I also stamped some flowers, sandals, fruits, and other images for each cupcake to have one top.

Take a look at them here:

And see the beautiful girl enjoying it all.

Tks for your visit and your comments.

Hello again, my friend Friday

Friday again!  Oh God!  This was a "short week" for me at work because I took Monday off. However, it has been very intense.  So, Friday, again, means special.

Hope your Father's Day weekend is full of surprises, good moments and love.

Today I will share two simple projects. First one is a non traditional Father's Day card for a groovy cool father. I know exactly who he is but won't tell...in case he reads this before he receives the card.

The cool thing about this card is that I made it inspired by scrap paper I was going to throw away. I used the negative of a shape I cut too many times the other day and then I filled with patterned paper and placed over a stamped background.

The other project is a tag I made to include with a gift. I wanted to achieve imperfect coloring using watercolor pencils.

I first stamped the image and then colored the background around. Then colored using a water pencil and touching the tip of the watercolor pencil to catch the color.

I then colored with yellow around the girl and stamped the sentiment next to her.

Tks for stopping by. I will link this post to Unity Stamp Co blog for the Friday's Friends with Flair, so leaving a comment gives you the opportunity to win great prizes.

We all are Beautiful

My God!  Tks for all the blessings!  I'm very grateful for all the things I enjoy everyday... family, home, love, friends, work, a great hobby, health, and more.   I feel beautiful and special to deserve all these. I just thought I should start saying this instead of what I usually say... But anyway... that too!  Hello Friends, Happy Friday!

I hope you are also feeling grateful today and that you have reasons to be happy and feel you are special.  I think we all are beautiful.

Here's a card I made last night to post in Friends with Flair today.  You know I love Unity Stamp Co. brand.  I have some stamps without any single use yet... so I try to use them all.

I cut some paper strips, distressed, inked and placed in the base.  I then stamped the image and colored with watercolor pencils, then cut in an irregular shape and cut other larger layers to stack into each other as shown.  I used glue in the middle and 3D adhesives in all edges for the dimensional look.
I love the final result and I hope you love it too.  Leave a message for a chance to win with Friends with Flair.

I will be attending a great scrapbooking event tomorrow... It's the Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event.  Click in the name for reference.  I will take classes with Teresa Collins, Frank Garcia, Vicky Boutin and Stephanie Miller.   So, if you follow me in facebook, stay connected to see my posts and photos I plan to share.
Have a great weekend.

Curtain Call - Inspiration Challenge

Hello friends.

I heard Unity Stamp Co is sponsoring the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge... so I had a little time today to play and support it.

The challenge is about making a project inspired in a photo/image.  Here's the photo:

When I saw it I thought "white", gray, wood, clear and see thru... and CAS style.   And I really had lots of ideas in my mind but I went with this one... check it out.

I stamped Unity's hexagons in vellum using pigment ink... Yes... pigment... but then applied clear embossing powder and heated...  Loved the effect.  Did the same with the sentiment.

At first I was going to place the vellum directly in the white base of the card but then I took another look to the inspiration image and I felt some gray...  So I joined a gray cardstock to the vellum with some eyelets and then placed with 3D adhesive to the white card.

Kind of imperfect... just the way I like it.

But then I felt I needed to make another project... It had to be quick 'cause I've got to go to do some other chores... LOL...  So this is a mini card using a wood background stamp with silver ink, and then a sentiment in black (both stamps from Unity).

Tks for your visit...  You can also follow me in facebook. Look for me as Scrapper Myra.

Unfinished Projects, anyone?

So...are you in Puerto Rico or close enough to come by for a weekend?  Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event is coming up again this year and it will be held from June 6 to 8.  I've been attending this activity since the first one 5 years ago (this is the 6th. event)...  I feel it is a full day of doing something I love and I deserve.  I thought I was not going to be able to attend this year, but I've made some adjustments and I'm going!!!!

The good thing is that you can choose to go and visit the stores without any cost.  There are make and takes projects starting at only $5.  If you want more, you can go on a one day package (that's the one I am attending) and have 4 exclusive classes with famous SB teachers.  And there's a VIP package that includes and additional day with more exclusive projects.  There are also single classes you can take separately from the ones in the main packages.  So, there's no excuse.  You should go.  You can get more information HERE.

And in case you would like to read about my experience in the former events, you can also click in the links below:

Talking about projects now... do you have any unfinished projects? I have lots... Most of them are in my head, or still and idea written in a notebook...  but others are actual projects that I started and did not finish.  I have to confess I still have some unfinished projects from last year's PRSE (and maybe more make and takes than I should have from even older events...).  So I was trying to clean up a little in the craft room and I ended up finishing these two pages from Vicky Boutin and putting some photos on them...

I am still not very good scrap-lifting because I usually make my projects inspired by the photos or the ideas, but  these classes are different, unique, and very valuable since they are given by very recognized teachers, so I tried to be as faithful to the original as possible, but of course adjusted to my needs.

I used the 2-page double layout to document my class at the Scrapbooking Convention held by the Papeles y Más magazine last February.  This is a great scrapbooking magazine that I'm blessed enough to be part of its Design Team.
I thought this day was wonderful and loved the experience.
Page A shows me.

Page B shows me in the class, a close up of the project (it was a mini album in a box, so the photo shows the cover and the box only), and part of the magazine's DT.

Here's the two pages together.

... and here's the original spectacular project from Vicky.

See you next time!
