The day of the 'WITHOUT CHILDREN' people!

Hey there!

Yesterday, we celebrated a special day in my husband's family.  It is a day we made up with the excuse to get together and celebrate.  

Let me explain... We are used to get together several times during the year, but mostly on Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Christmas.  On Mother's and Father's Days we share presents with respective mothers and fathers in the family; and Christmas is usually more for the kids.  We don't necessarily are used to share presents in our adults' birthdays (not because we don't celebrate them but because we are a lot and there are limitations...), so those adults who don't have children, won't necessarily receive any presents or have a special day during the year.

Long story short... even though the presents are a good part of this day, the real best reason to have created it is the excuse to have a day when we honor those who are not mothers, fathers or children...  So we celebrate every third Saturday of August the National Day of the Without-Children!  (In Spanish, it is literally "without Children" but it is understood that is referring to those who don't have any children; Día de los SINHIJOS).

This is the 5th year celebrating it, and guess what... I'm one of them!  So I had a lot of fun, celebrated with family... and received presents!!! LOL...

Anyway, let me show you a notebook cover I embellished as one of the presents for my sister in law, who is one of the SINHIJOS celebrated yesterday.

I used a Unity Stamp image which is a beach girl.  It reminded me of my sister in law because she likes to suntan.  She also has a tattoo, so this can easily be her. :)  I colored it with watercolor pencils, cut and used as a diecut image with other elements such as design paper, stickers, dots, washi tapes, chipboard letters and more...  I also stamped a sentiment in the card.  I think this can be a great notebook to write thoughts, use as journal, or any bucket list...   The thing is that it is personalized specially for her.

Let's Re-Wine!

I've been very busy these last weeks and believe it or not I have not dedicated too much time to this hobby. Most of the projects I've been posting were done a while ago and I had not shared.  In some cases projects were pending to be published and that is why I did not share before.

The thing is I don't think I will be able to do some scrapbooking next weekend either... Eeek!

Well, well... I'm sure I will find some time...

I still have this one card I have not shared with you.

I mainly used DCWV cardstock and Unity Stamp Co.'s stamps.

You know I love all wine stamps from Unity!  Awesome stuff!  I went with CAS design stamping without coloring and using simple elements arranged in a very easy to reproduce way.

After I took these pics, the card was changed for a birthday theme... but it kept the design I'm showing here.  A very good friend was the lucky recipient!!!  LOL.

Age and glasses of wine!

First Friday of the year!  yeah!!!  I know it probably sounds repetitive 'cause a lot of people might be pointing it out, but it is cool anyway.  This is going to be a nice weekend.  I will be sharing some time with some nephews and nieces from my husband side.  It is going to be awesome!

Today is also Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co. so since I had this card I made for the Be Inspired Challenge, I decided to post it and link to both.  Love this stamp I recently got.  I made the card for a coworker/friend's bday which was last Monday.  This card made her smile.  :)

In the inspirational color photo I loved the textures so that is why I went with cork paper for the card.

I punched circles with matching colors and created an interesting background.

Also added baker's twine and 3D adhesives to create dimension.

The girl was colored with watercolor pencils.  Also used some glossy accents for the lips, rose and wine...  Knowing my friend, this would be a glass of a refreshing Albariño... LOL!

A special "card" for my DH!

Hello my Friends.  I hope your Christmas was wonderful.  I had great Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with family and friends.

I made a card for my husband... but not a traditional one.  It is not very symmetrical and probably would not make any sense for you...but I made it full of symbols that describe him... at least in my perspective.

I made it in a canvas with words since he likes to read and lives by his word.  I used paint all over and specifically added some brushes since he likes and appreciates art and its forms.

I also stamped a message about how he needs coffee but deserves wine, and used a clock with wine glasses because he is very strict with time and I usually see him relaxed when he's tasting wine.

I added a dog's silhouette to symbolize our dog son, and I also included arrows because he's like a personal GPS for some people.

A house symbolizes his love for our home and a big heart in pieces to be able to love a lot of different people around him.

Also rulers because he is very square and likes to measure all. LOL!

And there's much more... but you've got the idea.  He loved his special piece of art.  Hope you like it.  Tks for your comments.

Christmas Mason Jars

Hey!  Wonderful Friday Friends!

It's almost Christmas... We are just 5 days away! Super!

Today, I will have the Secret Santa gift exchange at work.  We'll go out for lunch and stay the afternoon in a get together.  Awesome!  It's a great way to spend a Friday at work!

I will give a token of appreciation or little detail to some of the co-workers.  I made some "polvorones" (kind of a sweet cookie or biscuit that I did not find how to translate to English... LOL), and put them in mason jars for the girls...

I used some patterned paper / journaling cards and added a touch with some Unity Stamp Co. stamps...

This one is not even from a Christmas kit but loved the sentiment "Are you thinking pretty thoughts?".

This other one... "... wonderful things are about to happen..."

And this other one I really love...  Christmas words of wisdom...  Don't have to do anything to it... It's great just the way it is.

Three jars for 3 girls.

Another New Year card!

Everyday brings its own story... great things can happen whey you have a positive attitude. Hope your day is great... whenever you are, whatever you are doing... attitude is everything!

Here's another card I made with the New Year's eve theme.  I used this itty bitty from Unity Stamp Co, which I love (without mentioning the fact it is about wine... I love it because of that too!).

I embossed a background for texture and dimension, and I placed the clock at right as the focal point, with the sentiment.

I combined with another sentiment from other kit that says "as the clock strikes 12..." and stamped it on the inside...

It's always a good time for a glass of wine... As long as we have wine, the holidays will be fine!  Cheers!

Warm Wishes... from the tropic!

My beautiful friends...

How are you doing?  How's your Holidays going?  Are you enjoying?  I hope so.

Our Holidays in Puerto Rico are very warm... really warm.  Some people might say they feel the weather is cooler than the rest of the year... and it is true... but still warm. 

So when I make Christmas cards I don't necessary think of the winter with snow, snowmen (even though I love them), snowflakes or blizzards... LOL!  I think of great food, music, presents and gaining weight (besides the famiy, love and friendship factors of course!!!).

So, I thought I could make a card for those who live a colder winter and Holiday season.

Love these Unity Stamp Co. stamps that put prices to the kisses and hugs...LOL!   I made a banner with those and ready to be sent with warm wishes.

I was going to make the card with a palm tree and a bright sun, but then I might had given the wrong impression and people could think I was being ironic about the weather, don't you think?  That's a card I will make soon.

Hey you!  Happy Friday...  How was your Thanksgiving Day yesterday?  Hopefully awesome!  Thank God for life, for friendship, for everything you can see, smell, touch, and feel.  

I'm glad you stopped by today.  For Unity Stamp Co.'s Friends with Flair, I'm sharing this card with the stamp "Noelle".  This girl is amazing. You can color it however you want and I love how she looks. 

I had already try with softer colors for a more sophisticated look, but for this one I paper pieced most of it and used darker colors.

I even chose to make her with black hair and darker skin.  I love the final result.  Do you?

I think she's fabulous.

Unity Be Inspired Challenge

Hello dear friends. Here I am sharing a card with you.  I've been trying to make as many cards as possible for the Holiday season... so everytime I have a chance, I am making something.

I love the Unity Stamp Co.'s Be inspired challenge. They provide sketches and a color combination for inspiration.  My favorite to go with is the color combo.  I love the challenge of using the given colors... I think otherwise it is not so likely you would use the exact combination of colors by yourself.

So I went for a New Year's theme card.

Love the colors together, and love to ink the edges to provide unity to the whole project.  Love the imperfection of the final result.

A very unusual Christmas card!

Christmas is a spectacular time of the year.  I love the fact we are celebrating God with this season and I really enjoy how people seem to be ... better.   I know, it is weird!  But I think... (probably I hope)... for people to change for a better way.  It is a great season to think about what you've done or become... and what, if any, you want or need to change.  And it is not only about others... it's also about myself. 

But besides that... I love Christmas colors, glitter, textures... and all the magic of the decorations and materials related to the season.

I bought this beautiful box at Marshall's.  I love it.  I think it has great possibilities...  You can put a present inside so you don't have to wrap it, you can use it for storage, for decoration... and how about using it to showcase a mini album, or even for a special Christmas card?

Well.. I went with the last one... but this card is like a huge card made with different parts... so you can display in the wall if you want to.  Take a look...

You open the box and you see the first part of the "card"...  Grab the ribbon and pull it out...

It has several circles tied to each other with ribbon for a whole vertical piece you will love.

First circle is the angel wishing peace...

Then you have another circle with the reminder of the real Christmas meaning....

Then another peace and joy sentiment...

And finally a little card in an envelope.

In the little card you can just write the message you want, or also even include a gift card.  Size is perfect for that.

I will have to think who the recipient of this will be... It must be someone special... Or maybe I will sell this to someone so I can buy presents...LOL!!!!

Christmas Jar!

I bet that when you read the title you thought I was going to show you some Christmas mason jars I've been looking at in my scrapbooking room and have not embellished yet...  Oh well, you cannot know about that if I don't tell you... but yes... I can't find the time to making those... But no.  The post is about a card.

I love the result of this one.  I used a jar stamp from Unity Stamp Co.  Bird and sentiment are from Inkadinkado.

This jar is just fabulous to embellish the way you want, and fill it up with whatever you desire.

I made the card kind of shabby vintage look using brown and earthy colors, and this beautiful lace I found among my ribbons.

The background at left is part of a Prima Marketing packaging.  Love it.

Taking advantage of the patterned papers..

Hello... middle of the week friend!  We are almost there (talking about my lovely Friday).

I love layering... Love to combine different elements with a meaning, and mixing collections from different brands...  and with memorabilia around the house...

But sometimes I just get what I need with the patterned papers... They are most of the time so rich in design and colors, that you don't need to add that much.

These two cards were made using patterned papers or elements, combined with stickers, stamps and rub-ons... with little layering.

This one  has patterned papers as base, then circles from the same papers and one from red card-stock with the sentiment (same card-stock from the left punched edge).  Then I cut a tree from another pattern and added stickers letters.

For this other card, I also used several patterned papers as base, added the stamped image and sentiment, and included a rub on.  Also used some glitter and bling... Finished!!!

I mainly love ephemera style, but sometimes I feel a little CAS ... how about you?

Santa Baby!

I was in need of making some Xmas cards yesterday...  At the end I didn't make that many, but at least had some relaxing fun time cutting papers and using some glue.

One of the cards is all about this gorgeous stamp from Unity Stamp Co.

It's this fabulous fashionista called Noelle.  She's beautiful, isn't she?  I colored her with watercolor pencils (except the skin, for which I used a Copic marker).  I also added some bling to some of her outfit elements, using glitter and Glossy Accents(tm).

Here's the finished card.  Inside it says:  "I've been a good girl."
