Hello...
Oh... weddings! Lovely weddings!
I went to my friends' wedding last night. We had such a good time sharing this event with them. They are a very special couple. I met her at work and at a given point we worked very close as a team... so I've got to know her well. She's personally and professional great! And her boyfriend is such a kind person. Together they have fought to pursue their dreams and yesterday was the big wedding.
I give them my blessing and hope this marriage lasts forever... (sounds kind of "cliché" but I really mean it). I cried when I saw her starting to walk down the isle because she was just as I imagined her as a bride... the dress, the hair, how radiant she looked... just as I imagined... And then I felt like it was me accomplishing something. When you care about someone and he/she accomplish something, you feel it's you achieving it...
So I wanted to make a delicate and simple card for their wedding. I decided to use similar colors from the invitation to maintain the same mood...
I used for the first time the only spellbinders dies I have... yeah!!!! And I also used this little plate/pendant I have from a class, with a gorgeous bird in a cage and a gem.
I didn't want the card to open traditionally so I made a side shorter than the other and positioned the scalloped circles in the middle...
In the inside the left side when opened leaves space for the message and the smaller flap at the right serves as a pocket where the gift (check) will be placed.
I loved the result, because it was simple to assemble but at the same time required to be placed delicately and without messing with glue or anything. The cardstocks used are from the American Crafts Specialty Paper, the "Pearl" collection, and they are beautiful... they do have "pearl" appearance and nice textures. So sad you probably can't appreciate it in the photos, but the minimalism and simplicity of the card is really worth it so the paper can stand out.
The day of the wedding I decided to change the orientation of the card so it be opened up instead of to the left. So I carefully removed the plate and repositioned, so when my friends open the card they'll see the message in the top, and the check in front (into the pocket). If you want to visualize it just rotate the photo of the inside of the card one time to the right... hehehehe...
I hope you liked my card... and probably this post made you remember a friend's or relative's wedding... or yours... I think no matter how complex or simple the event, one should have a wedding to remember... It could be just a dinner, or maybe a get together at home... or a big party as the one I attended last night... but the important thing is to have a moment to remember... As someone said... "we don't remember the dates, we remember the moments"... so let's the moments count to be remembered... Don't you think?
Tell me about your wedding... please?
