Happy Birthday to You!

Hello friends...
Today's a special co-worker and friend's birthday.  She will celebrate next Saturday, but today IS THE DAY!  So, I gave her a little something (a certificate for a local sushi restaurant she likes), and of course I had to embellish an envelope to give it to her.

I used design paper as base, and sprayed some color before stamping the sentiment.

I made a small envelope for a tag and embellished with washi tapes and sequins.   Separately I stamped the image, colored and cut, to place next to the envelope.

She loved it!  And I loved making it for her last night! :)

I will link this to Unity Stamp Co Friday Friends with Flair next Friday... the first Friday of the new year... so if you leave a comment you are participating to win some goodies from Unity!

Thanks for stopping by!

After Xmas Friends with Flair Party!

Dear friends.  Happy Friday, and I hope your Christmas day yesterday was a good one.

I had a good time... very relaxing with my husband and mom in Holy Night, and then with my Mother in Law and my husband's family yesterday.

Today is a regular day at work but expected to be a very quiet one since there's a lot of people who took the day off...

I'm sharing this CAS card...  it's very similar to one I already showed you before (CLICK HERE), but I loved the fun way to create a background with watercolor pencils, and stamp an image on it.

I am linking this to Friday Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co so make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win some goodies...  Every Friday we share projects made with Unity stamps.  One entry and one commenter win.

I'm also linking two other cards I made and posted this week, so go there and while you leave comments under those posts of mine too,  please find all entries for all Unity Friends and give them some love.

Have a great weekend and continue celebrating the season!

A wedding jar!

Dear friends...
I have a very special coworker who will get married tomorrow.  He is a great man and has a beautiful girlfriend.  I wish them the best in this new path in life.

I wanted to show you the card I made for them.

Their wedding is going to be celebrated in outdoors and as far as I know they will have key vintage country elements in the decoration and theme of the wedding, such as mason jars, photos, etc...   So I thought it would be appropriate to use this beautiful stamp from Unity Stamp Co. showing this big jar.

I used the word "love" in Spanish to fill the jar (this is a wood embellishment from Latina Crafter), and added the wedding colors with embossed cardstock and paper straws.

I will give this to them tomorrow, since I have the honor to be one of the guests... :)  Actually, I made their wedding invitations and I will share them with you tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Leave a message today since I will be linking this to Unity Friday Friends with Flair.  And come back tomorrow to see the invitations.

Ice Bucket Challenge in a sketch challenge...

Hello...  Just passing by a little later than usual during the day to share with you a layout I made for a challenge... It's for a local store called "The Scrapbook Store".  They post a sketch every two weeks in facebook and this is the current one:

I used it to scrapbook some photos from my ice bucket challenge.  I did it with my coworkers team last August and it was fun.  Plus, more importantly, some people donated to ALS even though we accepted the challenge.

I used some stamps here and there (Unity Stamp Co.) and used even some photos as part of the embellishments at right...  It was my way to include all the photos I had printed from this day. :)

Hope you liked it.  I'm going to link it as a second post to Unity Friends with Flair Friday. So, make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win.
Have a great weekend.

Broken

And today is Friday again...  my favorite day.  But I have to admit the older you get, the more you learn to appreciate everyday... even if it's not a Friday.  Everyday has a special something and today you are probably at your best.  Enjoy it!

This weekend many things will happen... celebrations, gatherings, birthdays!  A friend's birthday is tomorrow.  But she's been sad lately.  Hope she continues getting better and understanding life is made of happiness and sadness... both are important.

This card was specially made for her.

Have you been broken?  Don't you think it's made you stronger?  Have you felt it is the end of the World and then time passes by, and you remember that feeling and understand it wasn't the end at all?  It was probably the beginning of more beautiful things!  I've told her.  Hope she knows it.

And hope you have a great weekend... a tear here and there... it's ok!  :)

More Thanks!

Let's continue giving thanks!  It's a nice feeling to be grateful and feel somebody is thanking you and appreciate what you've done.

This is a tag I recently made for the Papeles y Más magazine.  I loved making it.

Used stencils, embossing folders, sequins, distress inks, flowers, stamps (of course!), fiber, and more...  and used a plastic circle as shadow box (from a packaging).

I think it came out as a nice thank you tag...  Do you like it?  Thank you!

And thank you for stopping by!  :)  Leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity Stamp Co. I'm linking this to Friday Friends with Flair.

Have a great weekend.

In Good or Bad...

Hello friends...

I usually try to post more than once a week but I have been working in different projects that are exclusively for classes or publications, so I have nothing to show yet...  I am glad, however, a friend at work is having a birthday coming soon, so I was "forced" to make a card I can show...LOL!

It's a birthday card that doesn't look like one.  The thing is that my coworkers usually expect me to make a card for them and this friend has never received one because he's the newest in the group, and last year's birthday (which was his first at the office) we didn't see each other for a while because our vacation days were back to back...   So, long story short, I hope he likes to receive a personalized card.  We plan to give it to him today, but I feel comfortable sharing it here 'cause am pretty sure he doesn't read my blog or my Facebook page (I hope so!).

The card is not a typical birthday card.  I remembered he told me once about an image he likes or imagines for a possible tattoo... It was of a tree half dead, without leaves but with its trunk still straight.  And the other side very green and healthy.  He told me that this symbolizes that in bad or good times, you should stay put and be straight in all you do.  So no matter the situation, you should be honest, proud of yourself, ready for whatever comes, save for the bad days, etc...

So it is not a regular birthday message but I tried to show that with paper.  I want him to feel this was specially made for him.  I divided the card in two sides... one in faded gray for which I used some cardstock and painted some back stains, and another one with the bright blue glossy design paper (DCWV).  I cut a Fall tree and faded one side with sand paper and then glued in the center.

Stamped a bunch of leaves in different greens cardstock and cut for the flourished side.  This is a Unity Stamp Co. stamp.  Added a little wooden man in the center (Latina Crafter)... you know... hoping to communicate the message.  The sentiment "Live each moment" is also a stamp from Unity Stamp Co.

I stamped some more inside.  The cupcake and another sentiment.  (His name was my handwriting and then cut the shape... I love to do that for a very crafty touch).

Wish me luck.  Hope he likes it.  I'm linking this to Friday Friends with Flair, so make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win Unity goodies.  Have a great weekend.

Witch is not a bad thing?

Here's a quick post to share a card and link to Unity's Friends with Flair...

I'm off today (need to use all vacation days left) and I've been doing quite a lot of things, but took a minute to put this card together.

This beautiful witch was colored with watercolor pencils.  I wanted to provide a faded appearance to the image, and I made it possible adding a little more water than usual.  Chipboard sticker is from Recollections, and I used some sequins as additional embellishments.

Hope you like my witch...

Have a great Friday my friends.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win some candy from Unity Stamp Co.

Fridays make me happy!

Wooo hooo!  It's that day of the week again! oh, my dear Friday... you have no idea the amount of happy you have brought to me.  Hey, that sounds like a sentiment stamp... hmmm!

To celebrate the first Friday of my month, I made this card with some new stamps I recently got from Unity Stamp Co.

What a cool feather, right?  She's unique and was colored with watercolor pencils.   I layered some pattern paper and inked edges all over with distress inks, water brush and some spritz.
Then embellished with baker's twine and sequins.

I'm linking this to Unity Be Inspired Challenge and to Friday Friends with Flair... so go ahead... leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity.

And.. thanks so much for all your comments and for all of you who follow me on Facebook  :)  I really appreciate it.

Love the Little Things...

Hello Friday... and hello friends.
I have heard a lot of "sayings" about loving the little things... it's in the little things... or that the big things are the little ones... etc...  I always say that it is in the little things that a person shows a real self.  For me this applies to good and not so good things.  So no matter how little you think are the things you do for someone, probably they are big for them.

I had these stamps from Unity that had not used before and discovered this sentiment with this "ribbon" shape... Love it!

Then... inspired by some colors and images in the Unity Be Inspired challenge,  I colored this image showing several glass vases.  I love coloring even though I don't think I color that well.  I mostly use watercolor pencils, because are an economic tool vs other coloring markers... and I wanted to achieve the softer look these pencils help achieve.  So watercolor pencil it is!

But besides all that.. do you see this background I just made?  I really like it.  It is one of those things that suddenly come to your mind.  I was the other day thinking about nothing (literally) and though of vellum and how many cool things you can do with it... and I imagined circle shapes in a layout...   So soon after that thought, I was at my scrapbooking table playing with vellum.  I cut the circles and assembled as background with mini glue dots.   Sprayed some color on it and then postioned the image and sentiment as shown.  I covered the "glue dot" that were seen through the vellum, with pearls.  I also added some glossy accents to the vases in the image for a more glass-like look.

Hope you love the final result as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will enjoy reading your comments.

For the Bride

Happy hello to you my friends.

Today is a Holiday in Puerto Rico... and it is one of the few I have the day off...

And today is the wedding of a special friend.  We used to work together and she always was a great and sweet girl...  a good person... who had gone thru a lot...  and those "thru a lot" in our lives make us stronger.

She moved to Miami a few years ago and started to build a different life... We are now so happy to know she's getting married and that she's happy.

Since we are in the mood of wedding... I thought it was appropriate to share this little envelope I made for the Papeles y Más magazine.  It was published in the recent edition of June-July.

I stamped the image (from Unity Stamp Co.) in vellum, and then cut.

Added pearls for a delicate touch and adhered to the embossed envelope.

Then finished with a sentiment also stamped in vellum and framed with card-stock and a ribbon bow.

The idea was to create a delicate, CAS, but full of feminine details project.  I think I made it.

I am linking this to Unity's Friday Friends with Flair.  You can leave a comment for a chance to win.  Don't forget to visit the other girls.

Have a great fabulous super Friday!

This Day... layout

HOLA!

It's Friday again and it's special...it always is.  There's always a reason to find a day special, don't you think?  We, as imperfect humans, usually notice very easily when something goes wrong or just unexpected...  but the truth is that there's always a good thing around all our happenings... and everything happens for a reason.  Believe me, if I don't remind myself about this everyday, I would be a different person.

So, I want to show you a layout I made about a weekend at a beach resort a year ago.  This project was published in the June-July edition of the magazine "Papeles y Más".  I used Unity Stamp Co stamps, combined with Teresa Collins papers and elements.

This stay was very special.  We were with our goddaughter and her dad, and we could bring our dogson with us to this place.  We love this place because of that.
I wanted to create a page that denotes this is a good memory so the use of black and white photo with all the wood, and brownish elements, gave me that.

I combined clusters of elements and balanced the page by assembling them diagonally, with the photo in the center.   I love how the stamps went perfectly with the pre-made elements and they seem to be part of a same kit.

Hope you like my page.  Go get your magazine if you haven't.  It is full of great ideas and there are a few publications from Scrapper Myra... :)
Also, let me remind you that you may follow me in facebook HERE.  Just for fun... to share our imperfect world and great hobby...

Remember to leave a comment in this post to be part of the Unity Friday Friends with Flair and have the opportunity to win fabulous high quality stamps.
Have a great weekend.

Easter Mini Baskets

Hello Good Friday!  Hope my friends are relaxing spiritually and physically.

I didn't have time during the week to prepare for a Friends with Flair post (Unity Stamp Co.)...  not that I did not make any project, but posted them all and I like to post specifically for FWF and not repost anything.  So, thank God could make these to show before the linky is closed :).

I'm in a recycling mode lately.  Economic situation at home and country is not very healthy, so whatever I can do to ease the expenses, I do.  So for the Easter "mini baskets", I went with these soap boxes I've been reserving for a project.

I covered the first one with paper.

Added a border to help hide imperfections...

And made this fun front cover...  Just cut some strips and inked the edges...

Then fixed to the left with tape while arranged alternately facing back.

Then glued the base also facing back.

... trimmed.

Final result was this "basket" like cover.  I also hand cut some grass and embellished as shown.

Then I went for a second one. Covered with paper, added the borders and embellished with flowers and the sentiment.
I love how delicate this one resulted.

And finally a third one... covered with washi tape... knowing will be transparent but this is just the base.  I would cover then the see through sections with circles of patterned papers, little flowers and sequins.

Just need to put some candy and eggs inside...   Ready for a Happy Easter!  Glad I could do this and be able to link to Unity...  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win.

Retro CAS Friday!!!

I have the perception this week went faster than any other.  Some people say that the older you get, the faster the time is perceived to you, since you have lived more and know how easy time goes by.  I guess when you are younger you feel there's not going to be an end, and then as you get older you suddenly realized all you have lived and how fast it went.

In this case, this week was full of work and lots of things to accomplish, so I guess that's why I had this perception of a faster week.  The thing is I am glad that today is already Friday!

I went retro with this card for the CAS Outlawz Challenges.  Do any of you remember an old phone booth?  I don't necessarily remember these red ones, but certainly some gray and blue ... LOL!

The card is CAS so it was made easily putting pieces of paper together and it is easy to reproduce.

I did some things and included some elements to support the vintage/retro look.  Some distressing ink to all edges provided an oldie look.  The dots, stripes and squares in the patterned papers helped a lot.    A half doily in the back (also inked) is key.  Finally, the golden eyelets helped a lot with the look I was trying to achieve.

These beautiful stamps (image and sentiment) are from Unity Stamp Co.  So I will link this up to Friday's Friends with Flair too...  Leave a comment for a chance to win great stamps.

Friends with Flair @Unity Stamp Co

Happy Friday.

Just a quick stop to say HI!  I have been busy catching up on so many duties after the convention!!!  Also working on some projects for the magazine Papeles y Más.

But I made this card for a co-worker's sister...  She told me her sister liked bulldogs and flowers and the color purple, among other things... But these are the three things I put together.

The dog is part of a patterned paper by Basic Grey. Flowers and sentiment are stamps from Unity!!!

Inside there is room for the gift letter certificate she will receive and for the message.
I handmade the banners and used washi tapes and stickers for final touches.

I am going to link this up to Unity's blog. Leave a message for a chance to win.

Have a great weekend.
