Hello friends...
I usually try to post more than once a week but I have been working in different projects that are exclusively for classes or publications, so I have nothing to show yet... I am glad, however, a friend at work is having a birthday coming soon, so I was "forced" to make a card I can show...LOL!
It's a birthday card that doesn't look like one. The thing is that my coworkers usually expect me to make a card for them and this friend has never received one because he's the newest in the group, and last year's birthday (which was his first at the office) we didn't see each other for a while because our vacation days were back to back... So, long story short, I hope he likes to receive a personalized card. We plan to give it to him today, but I feel comfortable sharing it here 'cause am pretty sure he doesn't read my blog or my Facebook page (I hope so!).

The card is not a typical birthday card. I remembered he told me once about an image he likes or imagines for a possible tattoo... It was of a tree half dead, without leaves but with its trunk still straight. And the other side very green and healthy. He told me that this symbolizes that in bad or good times, you should stay put and be straight in all you do. So no matter the situation, you should be honest, proud of yourself, ready for whatever comes, save for the bad days, etc...
So it is not a regular birthday message but I tried to show that with paper. I want him to feel this was specially made for him. I divided the card in two sides... one in faded gray for which I used some cardstock and painted some back stains, and another one with the bright blue glossy design paper (DCWV). I cut a Fall tree and faded one side with sand paper and then glued in the center.
Stamped a bunch of leaves in different greens cardstock and cut for the flourished side. This is a Unity Stamp Co. stamp. Added a little wooden man in the center (Latina Crafter)... you know... hoping to communicate the message. The sentiment "Live each moment" is also a stamp from Unity Stamp Co.
I stamped some more inside. The cupcake and another sentiment. (His name was my handwriting and then cut the shape... I love to do that for a very crafty touch).
Wish me luck. Hope he likes it. I'm linking this to Friday Friends with Flair, so make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win Unity goodies. Have a great weekend.
