Let's Hang Out!

What's your favorite idea of hanging out?

Do you like shopping perhaps? Or you prefer to hang out doing outdoor activities? Are you attending a concert this weekend? There are always great performances going on around anywhere... (Ricky Martin is in town...). Or, you might prefer just going to the movies or have dinner out. Or, maybe you are a party animal!!! yeah!! I love all of the above! However, since I'm into this scrapbooking hobby, dedicating some time to be at my scraproom might have a very close meaning to "hanging out".

I really have some pending hanging out with a mini album about margaritas.... I also have a date with an anniversary album, and a Disco Party invitation... They are all waiting for me to hang out. I also have dreams about hanging out with my Cricut Expressions machine...

My traditional stamps are all very jealous of me hanging out with digital images... And I can't wait to get to know better my new Cuttlebug machine hanging out together.

I'll probably hang out a little tomorrow... Let's see. So, however you feel, wherever you go, whatever you do this weekend... make sure you think you are hanging out. It's awesome!

Age is only a number?

That's what is said... Age is only a number! That number sure comes with a lot of things. If your number is 25, the number means energy, youth, party, new experiences, future... I your number is 60, you probably think more of past, health, grandchildren, live day to day...

But I do agree that the number is just to give everybody else the idea of all your knowledge and experience... Age is really an attitude. Oh yes, I'm sure it is. The way you feel, and you decide to feel with your attitude, will project a lot of what you are. Positive attitude is always a plus no matter what the issue.

This very simple card was made very fast. I just wanted to use my cuttlebug for a card I wanted to give to a friend, but I didn't have much time. And I didn't know what to do.... hehehehe...

So I fastly embossed this background, matted it, stamped a sentiment, embelished with a chipboard flower... and that's it. I know it was fast and simple, but here's another beauty of scrapbooking: Sometimes to have the time, sometimes you don't... Sometimes you have the inspieration, sometimes you don't... Sometimes the things you took longer to do, were not as great as other simpler and faster...

I like the results. And I used the cuttlebug and that's what I wanted. It's new and I'm experimenting with it.

So I hope you like the card ... The person who received it just turned 25. Beautiful and nice girl from my work.
And remember.... Age is only a number... put some attitude to yours.

What a Dog may come...

Do you have a dog? Or have had dogs before?

I really did not have the opportunity to be related to dogs before... well, not in a good way. I was afraid of them. I didn't understand why I passed near them and they hated me. I even felt they smelled bad.

But to make a long story short... when I met my husband we talked about dogs and he learned how I felt. He said that if some day he had a dog, he would like a Rottweiler. Wow... not a little one!!! And he said he'd understand if I decided not having a dog ever, but if I gave in, he wanted it to be a Rottie.

So the years passed and I decided I had to learn to enjoy dogs... and after looking for information and decided to change my attitude towards dogs, Malbec came to our life. And he has become my best friend, my love, my son, my dog... I understand he is a dog and we don't pretend to treat him like a human, but he's so special. He knows when I'm sick, he is always willing to show love... he's adorable.

But he's also very special and came for a reason. He's an angel. I made this layout about 3 years ago when I started to know this hobby. I tried to express that this dog was really sent from Heaven specially for me.

My husband and I ... We've lived some "little special difficult moments" in which we've looked at each other's eyes and thanked God for having each other... but we've also looked at Malbec and have thanked God for having him. He's fullfilled a lot to us. He also has special needs that we've had to attend. His veterinary says we were made to have him and take care of him because others would have not been able to do it.

I regret not having a dog earlier in my life. But I'm sure enjoying it now.

Christmas in March... Ho Ho Ho !

Oh... yes! I'm kind of crazy. But just a little bit and enough to enjoy life. Have you heard people saying you must be crazy for doing something, or for working at certain place, or maybe for allowing anything? Well, let me tell you a secret... It's not called being crazy... it's called being imperfect... I've learned you don't have to describe things black or white... there's some gray there that will make you enjoy life better. So, call me crazy.

I had these layouts pending to finish from Christmas. Just developed some photos so I finished them and want to share with you... even if it's already March... ok?

This one features our Christmas Day 2010 when we opened our gifts. Economic situation had not been at its best during last year, so we were kind of wondering if Santa should visit us or not, but at the end he did... There's always something to give... and you don't need that much money to give it.

Nice things about this layout, besides the meaning is that the banner was hand made. I cut the triangles the way I wanted, stamped the letters and joined to each other with eyelets.

Also, the glitter balls in the Xmas tree were originally part of an event invitation. It was a little card in a box accompanied with these foam balls to support Xmas spirit. So, I cut them in half and used them in my tree.

I glued them with Aleene's Tacky Glue and gave some dimension to the cardstock tree.

I added some Glossy Accents to the tree as well.

My journaling is handwritten right above the dotted line so it seems part of the design for those who don't look closer.

The layout is very simple to do. I just used a white cardstock as base and used some elements of the papers from the Winter Wonderland Collection from My Mind's Eye. I mixed with Fancy Pants chipboard elements gave my personal touch with the banner.

That same collection I also used for this next layout.

There's one of the patterned papers that already has the phrase Merry Christmas and I thought it was ok to use it as title for an even simpler layout... and for taking advantage of it. So I cut just a thin border around so I can place it in a red cardstock and have the red border to frame the page.

I also cut a strip from other paper and used it at the bottom. To mat my beautiful niece photo I cut a shape from Accent Essentials cartridge in my Cricut Expression.

I also circle punched some designs from one of the paper, inked the edges, and added Glossy Accents in the middle... Some of them were glued with 3D Squares to create dimension.

The Poinsettia is a stamped image. I stamped several of these a while ago when I was in a crop and a friend (Mildred) let me use the stamp. I also stamped some leaves in green (from Autumn Leaves brand stamp) and placed them first, then the flower, and then other leaves from TAC, for the top.

A little tag with a Xmas tree was used for journaling.

I hope you like the final result.

And I hope you enjoyed this post... even if it is about Christmas... what an imperfect World.
