Another Card Sketch PPC82... and Unity Challenge!

Oh well.. what can I say...  It's like a seasonal fever!  All of the sudden I've been using sketches for inspiration.  I have to admit using sketches make me more productive in terms of amount of work done, so I don't complain.  And I've found so many nice sketches to play with lately, that I have not been able to resist to the temptation.

So when I couldn't sleep this early morning I woke up, went to the computer and found this one HERE.

When I saw it I knew I was going to do something with washi tapes and these Unity stamps I had in mind.  So I took advantage of the Unity Challenge going on and created a card that will be entered there as well.

The Unity Challenge is about stars, but since I don't have any Unity stars, I made my own using a shaped chipboard to stencil on patterned paper, and then used as complements these other Unity stamps that go perfectly with the card I wanted to create:  the dotted circle for the background, the banner sentiment stamped in yellow paper, and the main sentiment "You make life Bright".

And, for the banners at top left in the sketch I used washi tapes!  Yeih!  I love these sticky strips that have appeared in my life to stay!

Below is another complete view of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

C4C151, FWF, and Ruth49 Card...

A confusing title?  Yeah, I know...

First of all... Happy Friday and good bye August... and a long weekend starting today! Woo hoo!

I made a card with triple purpose.  That's why the title covers it all...

First... just for sharing in the Unity FWF.
Second... for a coworker's mother on her 49th. birthday.
And third... for my entry in Crazy4Challenges (sketch below).

The card needed to be bright, with yellow color, festive...

So I played with the name of the lady, and the age to celebrate...

The numbers are stamps from Unity... I've got them a long while ago with a bunch from these bags they bundle and you buy just because you want to be surprised... LOL!  And Unity never disappoints!

I also used the computer to write a phrase her son always tell the mother often which is "The best mother that I have"...  Of course is a joke because she is the only mother he has!!!

So here's the final product...

I made the banner by hand and used washi tapes to decorate with the chipboard circle letters.  I also embossed part of the background to provide texture. Also used ribbon and punched border to decorate.

Do you like my card?

Well... do these three things now:   (1)leave a message, (2)get inspired and create something too, and (3)go enjoy your weekend...

Best of Luck!

So... talking about sketches...  I usually don't use them much.

However, I've been using some lately for challenges and inspiration... and I've enjoyed doing it.

Here's one posted at DCWV Diary blog.  Isn't it nice?

So I wanted to make a card for a coworker student who worked with us for a while and her last day is tomorrow.  I know she loves purple (me too!),  so it reminds me of this oldie stack I have which is so versatile and has so many different combinations... including purple.

And I used the sketch... and I rotated it and this is what I came out with...

Here's a close up of some details.

I hope you liked it...

Thanks for leaving me some love!

Unity KOM Sketch and Ippity Challenges

Happy Weekend everybody...

I'm having a good time. Just doing some tasks and going around... but also took some time to make a card for the Unity KOM Sketch challenge.  And the good news is that I can link it also to the Ippity challenge and have double participation.

So, here's the sketch.

I used this sentiment I love a lot and DCWV patterned papers for the design.

I love the result and hope you also like it...

Tks for your comments and hope you have a great time this weekend.

Puerto Rico... safe from Tropical Storm!

It's Friday... It's Friday... Go Weekend! Go Weekend!  Woo hooo!!!!!

It seems like I always say the same thing every week, but "I am so glad it is Friday!"...  We had a tropical storm stopping by yesterday but nothing to be worried about... Our beautiful Puerto Rico island is blessed.  Thank you God!...

I made this CAS card inspired in my country flag!

I used a Unity Stamp several times to simulate the red and white stripes.

I hand cut two triangles and placed on top.

I cut the star from a transparency aligned to red cardstock.

I'll leave you now with patriot feeling...with joy because Tropical Storm Isaac wasn't harmful, and wishing you a great weekend.  Thanks for your comments.

SEM's August Sketch Challenge

Hello my friends...  let's welcome a new week...

I know I know... this means, go back to work, or  school/college, or appointments... blah blah blah...  But it also a new beginning...  a new week of life...  let's thank God for that... and have the best attitude towards this new week...  Agree?

Remember I'm the guest designer for SEM this month?  Well, I made a layout for their August Sketch Challenge...  It is about a  neighborhood called "Pabellones" in Ponce, Puerto Rico and the house my husband grew up in.

You can see the sketch, my pick and others' friends versions HERE.  Besides, you might want to come up with your version and participate in this wonderful challenge.  Please visit SEM and take a look at this wonderful blog.

Here are some sneak peek pictures showing parts of my layout...

Below is the story behind my layout and you can see the completed page by clicking HERE.

Don't forget to leave your comment.  Have a great week!

Whenever my husband and I talk about our childhood or remember any stories from the past, it is about this place he talks the most.  Part of his childhood and younger years he lived at this place called "Pabellones" (pavilions), located in the center of Ponce (a municipality of Puerto Rico).  He always tells me about all the good, funny and even some bad things he lived and saw in that "barrio" (neighborhood), and he always talks about it with nostalgic feeling.  I have this picture of him in front of the house when he was a young boy (about 14 years old), and this other photo of the house the way it looks more recently.  I tried to show in the layout that there's a lot of history behind this house, so I stamped handwriting to use as background, and used vintage patterned papers as well as embellishments and letters that could support the look.  I punched holes around the layout and used twine to frame all the page and ended with two large eyelets to tie the twine several times.  My journaling is also handwritten so it supports the nostalgic, personal and vintage look of the layout.  The journaling says:  "I never lived in this "barrio" at Ponce, but have heard lots of stories from my husband John.  Most part of his childhood and youth he lived here, at house #9.  His stories help me know a little more from his past and roots, which is what make him be who he is today."

Hello Friday!

Hi there!  It's been a while... I haven't been able to dedicate too much time for the hobby this week, so my activity has been very limited...

First of all, thanks for your support on the Guest Designer post last week on Scrapping Everyday Miracles...  If you haven't seen it, stop by HERE.

I took a little time for a Clean and Simple, or CAS card to share with you...  I literally was in need to post something.

I cut a piece of patterned paper and rounded the corners, combining with a strip of punched border design.

Then stamped an image and colored, matted with cardstock and added a sentiment and a little eyelet, placing it with 3D foam squares.

The result is a colorful "tweet" card to wish you a happy Friday!  :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

(I'm entering this card in the FWF at Unity, and CAS at The Outlawz)

August Guest Designer for SEM

Happy Sunday my friends...

Hope you are having a wonderful time today.

My post today is to link you to another post at Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog.

I am so excited because they have trusted me to be August Guest Designer.  It's so cool they like my style and appreciate my work.  So, I've opened my heart ... please go visit them HERE.... and get to know me a little bit more.

You'll probably miss me this week because I will be out of town on a business trip so the activity around this blog will be limited... (let's see what happens today... maybe I can schedule a few things... but no pressure...LOL!).

However, you will be able to see some of me in my post at SEM as guest designer...  so don't forget to stop by at SEM again next Thursday... I hope I can somehow inspire you with what I have prepared.

Have a great weekend.

I'll leave you with this photo of me and Malbec at Villa Montaña (Isabela, Puerto Rico).
Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by and for your wonderful comments... and don't forget to love your imperfection and show it with pride!

"I do"

Hello my friends...  Happy Friday.

I'm so stressed... I have so much work at the office...  and will be out of town in a business trip the whole next week...  But you know what?  I always say we humans need sweet and sour to be able to compare and appreciate... so, Thank God for scrapbooking that helps me calm down... :)

I made this layout a few days ago and was waiting to finish some details before posting, but the more I look at it, the more I think I'll leave as is...

The base paper has already a lot going on, but it is perfect for the topic because it has lots of romantic phrases and images.  I made the layout for the current Unity Challenge with the theme of "I do"...   I wanted to use the theme in a funny but serious way...  I mean, when you look at the photo and the title, it's a joke because I used a photo of my dog and myself in bed, and the title is "I do"... LOL!

But let me get you through it and then to the more "serious" part.

First, note I used chipboard letters for the title, and below it I stamped a swirl.

I also stamped the same swirl in the opposite direction on top of the "I love you" message printed in French.

I used two stamps of hearts and heat embossed them, then cut and assembled together.  One of the hearts is from a stamp that says "with much love and sympathy" and the other one "Home is where the heart is", but I used only the hearts.

I replicated one of the hearts and used for bottom part of page with washi tapes.

Finally, I stamped this shape in a line printed paper to make a journaling card, and cut.  Then stamped the "you+me=happiness" sentiment on top.

That's seven Unity stamped images in a layout!

And this is the whole page.

Here's the serious part... I really meant "I do" with my dog.  I used to be fear of dogs and at some point decided to change that.  And long story short, my dog has been a blessing in my life.  The journaling says:  "Dear Malbec (my dog):  You are very special.  I thank God for the opportunity to feel your unconditional love.  This is something every human deserves to live.  I don't regret to have accepted the challenge to overcome my fear for dogs."

I hope you liked it...

I do.
