More of the mothers' journals...

Happy Friday my dear scrapper friends. I am so excited about today!  I want to forget all the negative things happening in my beautiful Island Puerto Rico and think of the good things coming up in the next years.   Help me with that, and wherever you go today, whatever you do, any plans you might have... Just think of good things, pray for the better world we all hope, and let's connect our minds with optimism.  After all, attitude is everything!!!

I still had not shown the rest of the journal books I personalized for some mothers a few weeks ago.

Here's one with stamped flowers added to the cover.

Inside it has a pocket and a bookmark.

This second one also had a great cover already, si I just added the initials of the special woman to receive it...

...and made sure to add coordinating touches inside. I stamped feathers and added with sequins.  Love the final result.

Finally, this one. I showed some of it in facebook this week but didn't post it here.  I added a doily and stamped a Spanish sentiment, and added stamped flowers.

Inside also included a personalized touch as did with the others.

All stamps are from Unity Stamp Co except the Spanish sentiment, which is from Latina Crafter.  I used materials from several brands including Teresa Collins'.

Hope you liked these. Leave a message for a chance to win at Unity since I am linking this post to Friday's Friends with Flair.

Have a great, positive, optimistic, full of energy and fabulous weekend!

One thing leads to another...

You know what I'm thinking?  I had a great weekend.

Great celebrations Friday and Saturday for my hubby's bday, a great family day yesterday...and, today is Memorial Day...

Many things come to my mind. First of all, I think of those soldiers that definitely deserve our respect. I immediately think my father. He was a soldier at Corea many years ago.  My father died when I was 10 and it is one of those things you remember everyday at some point.

Then I naturally think of Father's Day coming up soon.  So I made this card.  Have you started making Father's Day cards or projects yet?

I used Unity Stamp Co stamps, Teresa Collins paper, bakers twine, cork, and eyelets.

Now I feel I am not in the mood on continuing with more scrapbooking. I just remembered I have to go to work tomorrow.  :(

I love you mom

Today's my husband's birthday and I took the day off to be with him.  We hope to also celebrate with a get together tomorrow.  Let's celebrate life!
But don't have anything related to his bday to show you today... don't wanna ruin the surprise for him.  I'm sharing another Mother's Day card I haven't shown.  It's the one my husband chose for my mother in law.  I used several patterned papers to end up with multiple layers I just loved.

I first covered the base with two different patterned papers.

Then used this same paper to stamp the image and sentiment and also a piece from the other side.

Placed them like this and also added stamped lace in vellum.  Love the effect of the stamped vellum and specially in this stamp to simulate lace.

Then added the big butterfly, flowers and pearls.  Very delicate and feminine.

Hope you love it as much as my husband loved it for his mom.

I am going to link this to Unity Stamp Co.'s Friday Friends with Flair... so leave a comment for the opportunity to win beautiful stamps.

LCSC35 - Tarjeta de Cumpleaños

Hola a todas...

Unity Be Inspired Challenge

Hello my friends.

My dear husband will turn 4+3 soon and we will go out to celebrate with friends.

It is something simple and it has to be low budget, so guess what?  Creativity on!
The celebration will be held in a wine related place (of course!!!) so I wanted to make a cake topper with that theme.

I made this using Unity's Be Inspired challenge inspiration.  Not only the color challenge, but the card sketch, helped me with this.

I used several stamps from Unity.  The little bottles in the green cardstock, the numbers 4 and 3, the bottle and the wine glass...  This last one particularly was part of a stamp with a background but I cut it to use only the glass.   I poured (painted) some wine in the glass and added glossy accents.  Also painted and stained a little bit the white circle to add some unity to the whole piece.
For the banner, using the same stamped numbers as stencils, made some extra flags and used the same wood sticks to hang them.

In this next picture you can see I added sticks so I can place in the cake, and also to provide stability to the whole creation.

Here's the inspiration challenge information.  Click in the image... Still can participate yourself!

Tks for stopping by and for your comments.

Libreta Decorada

Hola...  Saludos de fin de semana.

(For English, go to the red text)

Para el pasado Día de las Madres, mi esposo y yo decidimos dar unos regalitos originales.  Aquí les muestro uno de ellos que era para una de sus hermanas.

For the past Mother's Day, my husband and I decided to give original gifts.  Here's one of them, which was for one of his sisters.

I personalized this journal type notebook which already has a simple pattern in the cover.  What I did was to add some details with contrast colors and embellishments.  Of course I stamped in Spanish with Latina Crafter.  I also included my sister in law's initials to make this gift very personal.

Adentro incluí además un marcador y un sobre pequeño.
I also included a bookmark and a small envelope inside.

Espero les haya gustado la idea.  Pronto les compartiré otras de estas libretas.  Gracias por sus comentarios.
I hope you liked the idea.  I will soon share more of these notebooks. Tks for your comments.

Jars of Love

Hello my friends...

Is this a great day or what?  Well, you decide!

For today's Friday Friends with Flair at UnityStamp Co., I decided to show you one of the cards I made for a class last month.  I actually made two sets of 5 cards for the class and this is the one I chose for my mom.

I used the "Jars of Love X 3" and "A Mother's Love" kits... Fabulous kits!  Click on the names to see them and keep reading for a change to win...

I stamped the jars in vellum and put some things inside these beauties.  Some people at the class did not know they could stamp on vellum.  I say you can stamp on any surface... using the right ink.  I recommend dye ink because it dries fast.  A pigment or distress ink wouldn't probably work well on vellum.  After all, you find out what you can or can't do by creating.  I don't like rules in my scrapbooking... LOL!

I filled one jar with flowers, another was just labeled and one was destined to carry hearts full of love.

Flowers were heat embossed. Hope you can see the detail.

And my mom loved the card!!!!

Hope you like it too.  I will be sharing the other cards in future posts.  Do you wanna see them?

IMPORTANT:  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity Stamp Co....  And, there's a double fun giveaway here.... If you go to my Facebook fan page HERE you can also win one of the two prizes I'll be giving away.  One is a Jars of Love x 3 kit and another one is the "A Mother's Love" kit.  These are the ones I used for this card.  I will giveaway to two lucky friends randomly chosen.  Just go there and like me if you haven't, and leave a comment in the post that linked this entry.  You have all weekend, so invite your friends to do the same.  I wanna read all your comments.

Have a great weekend!

Mother's Day Weekend!

Welcome to Mother's Day weekend!

For this Friday's Friends with Flair (Unity Stamp Co.), I decided to show you this canvas project that made the cover of Papeles y Más magazine.  I'm sure you have seen it since you either have the magazine, or saw it on facebook... but I wanna show you how I made it.  This can be an original gift for mom... if you haven't got anything yet.

First of all, I used an empty gift box as base... Yes, an empty box.  If you have taken classes with me or have followed me for a while, you know I really try to use all available materials and use the paper at its maximum capacity... LOL... Well I have to admit I sometimes have to throw away some things right before becoming a hoarder.

But, yes... a box.

I cut canvas fabric enough to cover the base part of the box (the smaller one).

I adhered it with Mod Podge and secure the edges.

I ended up with a base like these and waited until dry.

When dried, I painted the edges and this is the base I used for my canvas creation.

The rest is history...  You can create anything in a canvas.  I used acrylic paint, spray, doily, vellum, stamps, paper, sequins and more...  Then, close the box as usual but the cover will serve as the back side of the project.

I particularly liked that I used vellum hearts as masks to spray paint and when retrieved had the amazing images... and then used those very same sprayed vellum hearts as embellishment over the creation.  See them?

For the Scrappy Heart...  please refer to my previous post about it HERE.  You are going to love it.  Another "made up" technique by Scrapper Myra. LOL! :)

Have a wonderful day!!!

Happy NSD!!!!

Today's National Scrapbooking Day!!! Yeihhh!!!   Believe it or not I think I'm not going to be able to do scrapbooking today... Precisely today!!!   But I'm going to be doing great things anyway, so there's time for everything... (God's timing is perfect).

But wanted to share a card I made making up techniques... You know how it is... Crazy Scrapper Myra... LOL!

I used Latina Crafter stamps for this card and I love how it came together.

First I painted with acrylic paint some free brushes at top and bottom of base of card.  When dried, I stamped the sentiment at bottom.

For the "bottle caps" I cut circles, stamped the images on them, inked the edges, and with a coin, I molded them to simulate the caps.  Retrieved the coin and ended up with these.  I love them.

I finished up with some sequins.

For the word "mami", I just hand-wrote it and cut.

I hope this has inspired you.  Go ahead... honor the hobby and do some scrapbooking today.  I you get inspired by this and end up making something, please show it and let me know... mention it in your post, or send me pictures.  :)

This card was published at the Papeles y Más magazine.  Wanna know more about this magazine...  Check it out HERE or click on my DT button at right.  For Latina Crafter products also click HERE or use the button at right that says "Talento Latino".

Have a great weekend... enjoy this day... and let's have a great month!!!!

Friday - MAMI layout

Happy weekend!  It is officially Friday!  Let's party!!!!  LOL.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

For today's Friday Friends with Flair I am going to show you a layout that was published at the "Papeles y Más" magazine.  It is dedicated to my mom, since we are already in May... I guess it is very appropriate.  Mother's Day is coming up soon.

I used several stamps as main elements in the page.  This bird in the close up here for example...  I stamped the image in the paper and part of the photo, and separately with pink ink in cardstock and cut to place on it and create some dimension.

These delicate hearts also stamped directly on paper in different ink colors and added pearls to simulate they are hanging.

The sentiment in vellum and the hexagons distributed for balance, are also stamped.

I hand-wrote my journaling at left, aligned with ribbon... It says:  Mom has always been a strong woman, willing to fight to go forward.  God bless her!.

Hope you liked it...   Go find it in the magazine.  This magazine is getting better and better in every edition...  Don't miss it.

(Note:  In the magazine, there was an error, and my friend Anya Lynet, from Maia Ink, was mentioned as the author of this layout.  Hope she doesn't mind.  I don't.  Have you seen some of her work?  Check it out HERE.)
