Santa Claus is coming to town...

Don't you love Santa Claus?  It's difficult not to love someone who is able to travel around the World, with a great attitude, just to leave presents for all...  with a great service "delivered" to your home.  And he's cute too!  LOL!  This Christmas figure is amazing.  The emotions lived by children when thinking about the magic of the Season and all that it involves... it's just great!

As long as we don't forget about Jesus, the real meaning of Christmas, and take the time to actually think of it and enjoy that magic in our hearts too... it is ok to love Santa Claus!

So, this card is to honor Santa Claus.

I found these stamps from Inkadinkado and had to get them.  They portrait several images of Santa Claus... but they are kind of vintage images.  It is a challenge for me to work with vintage materials so I went for it.

I stamped the image in white cardstock, so I just colored the hat and skin... also gave some color to the background so the white can stand out.

I embossed t he red and cream cardstocks in the background, and embellished with jewels, a lovely poinsettia flower, and more...  I even used a piece of a Prima packaging... can you spot it?

CAS Baby Girl Card

Hello...

Remember my post about the little baby girl who recently arrived to our planet Earth? LOL...  Here's the post I'm referring to where I show the shadow box.

Just wanted to stop by and show you the card I made to go with the gift.

It's a CAS (clean and simple) card I made with stamps from LYB. 

I used a patterned paper from Prima with solid card base from AC and stamped directly on it.

Added some baker's twine, a jewel (elephant's eye) and glitter (in the flowers stamp on the giraffe).

I think it came out pretty.  And it was very simple and easy to do using different stamps and inks.

Just another example of how simple tools can provide for a great project.

Granny's baby girl

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Whatever your activities are during the week, hope you are seeing the positive side of them all... the blessings behind each moment of our lives.  There's always one positive side... Sometimes we just don't know about it until later.  Hang on!

I am sharing today a tag I made for the grandmother of the little baby girl I told you about the other day.  Please refer to this post HERE.

Her grandmother is a very strong, hard worker, hyper, nice woman!  She likes scrapbooking too but it seems she doesn't dedicate too much time to it as she would like.

But the thing is that I bet she will be a wonderful granny!

So I made this tag to congratulate her for the granddaughter news!!!!

I used Prima papers combined with American Crafts stickers, doily, sequins, rub-ons and ribbons.

I basically combined shabby chic with some modern elements.

I hope she liked the tag... just a detail to remind her how blessed she is for having such a great treasure... to be a granny.

Shadow Box

I recently had a class with Frank García, from Prima. You can check out his blog here:  Haus of W.

His style is very romantic shabby chic, and it goes perfectly with the Prima products in general.  Even though I usually jump from style to style, and shabby chic is not the most frequent I use, I have to admit I really enjoyed the class.  Firstly, he explains very well and is very organized.  And the other thing, and the one I really enjoyed the most, is that I was able to learn techniques that I can use with other styles that I most commonly follow.  I love the way he made us achieve great dimension in the projects and the use of cords to keep paper in place.... Amazing.

Anyway, this page I made in his class, added some sort of my personal touch with tiny details, and waited for a great photo to use...   One of our friend's sister had a baby girl recently and I thought, this is it!

Before I show you the result, let me tell you I found these great shadow boxes at TJ Maxx.  Great design and perfect size.  I glued the layout in the middle (with hot glue to make sure it stays in place), and used thin chipboard to make two pieces to place at both sides of the layout to make it pop even more.

So, not only the layout has great dimension with flowers, pop up elements and so, but I also made the edges of the layout itself to be in 3D.

Since the shadow box is deep enough I could do this and have a great result.  This is going to be our gift for the happy parents.

Isn't it beautiful?  I think so too.

Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event 2013

I had a great time at the Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event last Saturday.  The event was held during the whole weekend, but I only went one day.  This is a great event because you get to be in the same place with hundreds of other people who share the love for this wonderful hobby.

There's always something new to learn, someone to know, someone to help, and a lot to enjoy.

I started with the class sponsored by Simple Stories with designer Layle Koncar.  It was a mini album full of great stuff.

I plan to use mine to document things about me... probably an A to Z album or something... Will see.

Then my second class was with Vicky Boutin.  She had taught at last year event too.  Her layouts are very cool and fun.

I used a new product with her... which I liked because I got to use my fingers and get painted...LOL.  It was called gold ink or something like that.  Sorry I don't remember the name but I will probably recognize when I go shopping soon.

Then, after lunch I met wonderful Teresa Collins.

She's sweet, and very talented...just as I thought she would be.  I brought with me Scrapbook Trends magazine, from which I got to know more about her.  I had heard her name before and have seen her work and products, but this book/magazine was great for me to know more about her and I really loved it.  So she autographed it for me...

She even accepted to pose for a crazy photo with me.

For her class she made two beautiful pages that I hopefully will complete soon.

Then, my last class was from Prima's teacher Frank García.  I did not know about him before the event.  He is very talented and he is truly a teacher.  He explains all in a very simple way and we all enjoyed his class very much.

I usually don't win many things by luck, and I won a small stamp designed by her in a random giveaway.  Cool, isn't it?

I thank God because I've had the opportunity to learn about having a hobby, and find relaxation, friendship, joy and a  lot more in it.  Those who have a hobby probably knows that hobbies can be a lot more than just something to pass time.  And you know what?  Not everybody has this blessing.  I get inspired, I express feelings, I know people, share with my friends, love the results of the projects... and have a good time.  Scrapbooking has come to my life to stay.
