Graduation Shadow Box

Hello my friends...

I hope you already got the newest edition of the Papeles y Más magazine.  Lots of beautiful projects and ideas for Mother's Day, graduations, Father's Day... and more.

You will see several projects made by me and if you already saw them, you know one of them is a shadow box you can use to hold a graduation gift.

You will find the instructions in the magazine, but I figured you could use some more help with photos.

I used a big box and cut an open space in the cover.  I used a transparency to cover and make it a window.

In a smaller box I created a scene. Stamped an image from Stamp-a-Hoot and a sentiment from Latina Crafter.

With some adhesives and cardstock strips I managed to place the box so you can see it through the window.

I also added some patterned paper to cover the inside of project and make it neater.

I embellished with circles and sequins.

This box is ready to graduate.

See much more in the magazine.  If you liked this, show it leaving a comment.
Have a great weekend.

Wish you the sweetest Friday!

Hola viernes querido!!!!  Hello dear Friday.

This is going to be a great weekend. Tomorrow I will share a class of Mother's Day cards at a local scrapbooking store. I am very excited and looking forward to it.
Wish me luck.

But today let me share this card with you and with the Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co.

Love the sentiment in this itty bitty and this is a lovely strawberry, isn't it?

Tks for stopping by and leave a message for a chance to win.

Easter Mini Baskets

Hello Good Friday!  Hope my friends are relaxing spiritually and physically.

I didn't have time during the week to prepare for a Friends with Flair post (Unity Stamp Co.)...  not that I did not make any project, but posted them all and I like to post specifically for FWF and not repost anything.  So, thank God could make these to show before the linky is closed :).

I'm in a recycling mode lately.  Economic situation at home and country is not very healthy, so whatever I can do to ease the expenses, I do.  So for the Easter "mini baskets", I went with these soap boxes I've been reserving for a project.

I covered the first one with paper.

Added a border to help hide imperfections...

And made this fun front cover...  Just cut some strips and inked the edges...

Then fixed to the left with tape while arranged alternately facing back.

Then glued the base also facing back.

... trimmed.

Final result was this "basket" like cover.  I also hand cut some grass and embellished as shown.

Then I went for a second one. Covered with paper, added the borders and embellished with flowers and the sentiment.
I love how delicate this one resulted.

And finally a third one... covered with washi tape... knowing will be transparent but this is just the base.  I would cover then the see through sections with circles of patterned papers, little flowers and sequins.

Just need to put some candy and eggs inside...   Ready for a Happy Easter!  Glad I could do this and be able to link to Unity...  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win.

Daisies Card

Monday Night?  Eeeek!  I said I was going to bed early and now there's an eclipse to watch?  No, no, no...  I'm sorry.  I love to live the moment and enjoy life, but I can probably sleep a couple of hours and then wake up to see the red moon... if I can get up!
But before going to get some rest... what about a CAS card?

Before showing it to you... do you know what CAS mean?  It stands for "clean and simple".  You want to leave open space, without embellishments, avoiding lots of layers.  It is important to also have a featured element as a focal point.  This means there must be something that when you look at the card you quickly see it 'cause it gets the attention.  It's the one thing you see first and remains as the main thing.  The CAS project is usually easy to reproduce... This means you can replicate a card maybe using other paper, other image, etc... but basically same "layout".  If you have to look at a project and think "how was this done?", then it probably isn't CAS.  And this doesn't mean you can't use some techniques...ok.  Some people think CAS style does not allow for painting, embossing, using color, and some texture... You can't abuse... but can allow.

I used daisies on this one and will link to the Sunday CAS challenge at the Outlawz Challenges.

A very CAS card using mostly white and with the flowers as the main element.

You can easily make a similar card or replicate this one with cardstock, half doily, a stamped image and a sentiment.  Of course, this one card is unique... LOL!

Here's a closer look.  Note I also added some glitter to the flowers... just a extra touch without over doing it.  I was tempted to add some pearls, but this one beauty already has just enough to be called a CAS card.

Hope you are having a great Holy Week...

Tks for your comments.

LCSC34 - A Sketch Challenge!

Hi!  Hope you are having a great weekend!

(PARA ESPAÑOL VER LETRAS EN ROJO)

I dedicated today to make some kits I needed to finish on time.  I have a class to offer on April 26, but I know how busy I will be these next weeks and how many projects I have waiting for inspiration and TIME.  The good news is that I already made them... so did the instructions and all for now. Sigh!!!

Hola!

Ufff!!!

I then made some space to make a card for the Latina Crafter challenge.  I really want to be able to support this company because it provides great products for us.... "latina" crafters.  So,  that's why you see this Spanish version in red.  Remember you can always also use the translator in my blog and read every post in the language you prefer.

.I used the sketch #34 to make this card.  I used a vintage look with cream, pink and black colors.  Used some vellum, ink,  ribbon, sequins and paper flowers.  For an original technique, I stamped the sentiment first in the pink cardstock, then in the cream circle, and positioned the circle right on the other sentiment to match.  You can also do it directly in the two cardstocks at the same time but sometimes the stamping can be interrupted in the join lines, so this way you make sure you won't lose any part of the sentiment or image.

Here's the sketch for your reference.

Aquí el "sketch" para tu referencia.

And here's a full close up of the card.

I wanted to also share a thought with you.  I have some friends who do not like making cards.  They prefer layouts, mini albums, or anything that has to do with photos.  I just want to tell them they can enjoy making the cards and use them for other things but a card.

For example, cards can be great covers for mini albums.  They can also be part of your journal pages and provide great journaling in layouts or other projects.  You can use them to complement your mixed media projects, and as embellishments in your layouts.  What about with photos in a shadow box?  You can even frame them and combine with framed photos for your around the house projects.

This is a simple layout using the card I just showed you.  I just quickly positioned the elements to take a photo and show you, but sure this can be improved LOL!  Just an example!

So, next time you have a chance, make some cards with your friends... and don't send them to anybody... use them as journaling or as a key part of your next project!  :)

Remember I will offer a class.  We will make 5 cards for Mother's Day...  or remember, you can use them for other things.  Email me if you want information or visit me on facebook (Scrapper Myra).

Have a great weekend!

Speaking about challenge!

Hello My Friends.

Hope your Friday is Full of Happiness!!!

First things first... I had a color challenge in my fan page and wanted to have some friends joining in just for fun but did not achieve quorum for the great giveaway.   It's ok.  It's the fun that counts.
However, I want to thank Anya Lynette from Maia Ink for her support.  She is a Unity Stamp lover just as I am, so I have this Unity candy for her... Yes, Anya... these are yours.  Tks for your participation in my challenge.

Well... and today I am sharing a card made with Unity stamps using the new Be Inspired Challenge colors.  Love the combination and I think I will be inspired even more with it in the near future.  But for now this card.

I used SMAK stamps and love how they look with the textured cardstock for perfect imperfection.  Added the green color with some sequins (Oh, I love sequins!) and some glitter.

Please leave a message for a chance to win with Unity 'cause I am linking this to Friday Friends with Flair.  Besides, I love to read your comments.  :)

A lot of photos!!!

 Hey there!

I made a two-page layout using lots of photos...  When I started in this hobby I used to place multiple photos in one page.  My style has changed and I don't use lots of photos very often.  But when you want to show a whole fun weekend in two pages, you have to accept the "multiple photo come back"!!! LOL.

For this weekend scrapped in these pages, we had 5 of our nephews/nieces at home without their parents.  Just them with us!!!  Oh... I just think of it and I'm tired again.  But I loved the experience and they sure had a blast.

I used the Unity Be Inspired Challenge for inspiration and chose the colors in it to add stamped words and accents through the pages without over embellish them so the photos can look great.

Tks for stopping by... and tks for your comments.

A mother's heart...

Hello my dear blog friends... and also those who follow me on Facebook.

I love this card I made... I had it in mind for a while and I love how it turned out.

I wanted to make this heart just like it looks.

When I saw this sentiment I thought of putting squares of patterned paper together and cut a heart shape.  I also draw lines simulating sewing.

I think I oficially have my first Mother's Day card of 2014...LOL!

I'm going to share this one on the Unity Itty Bitty a Day challenge in facebook.  :)

Also, remember to participate in my challenge.  Would love to have the 10+ friends participating for some nice goodies...  VIEW THE POST HERE.

Tks for your comments.

A card...In the middle of the week!

Yes... I'm trying to make a daily project for the Unity Stamp Co. Itty Bitty Challenge going on in facebook.  It is from Monday to Friday...  I saw the post on Tuesday (yesterday), so at least I'm going to participate 4 days... :)

Did you see what I posted yesterday?  Please view it HERE and leave me a comment.

For this card I stamped the image of bottles in vellum, then painted with acrylic paint and finished with glossy accents.  Love the unique effect I ended up with.

I stamped the heart in cardstock and in cork.

Love this sentiment.  It's so true.  Cheers!!!!

Psst Psst... Please remember I have a challenge going on in facebook myself.  It's a color challenge.  I would love to have at least 10 friends participating.  Read about it HERE... :)  Hope to see you there.

A beautiful mind...

Hello again...

Here's a quick card to show before going to sleep...  Just needed to relax a bit and made this card.

Used an itty bitty a friend gave me :)...  Love the sentiment.  How cool would be that we can all have beauty in our minds!  I interpret that by having positive thoughts, always have good wishes for others, think of how to help and support others...  seeing all the good things in people before the less good... :)  Ahhh... Beautiful!

I stamped the image in vellum and placed over patterned paper.  Snapped paper and vellum together with brads.

I will share this at facebook Unity {show and tell} for the itty bitty a day challenge ... Not sure if I can post one everyday but you know the idea is to have fun... right?

Also... don't forget about my color challenge...  Refer to it HERE.   I would loooovvveee to see your entry.

 :)  See you around!

Welcome April...and a challenge!

Hello friends... Hope you are enjoying life and its great imperfection!

I hear people focused on making jokes and trick others today because it is supposed to be a Fool's Day...  April1!

Well, I don't want to fool or trick anybody. Instead I want to share a facebook challenge. I choose it to be a color challenge and since this is totally random, I will use the colors I am wearing today. LOL

Make a layout, a card or any paper craft project using these colors for inspiration and share with me.

This is going to happen in the facebook fanpage so just visit me there (button access at right upper corner if you are in your computer or find me as "Scrapper Myra"), like the page and send me through the inbox a photo of your project so I can post and share in the wall for all the friends to enjoy.

If you are not in facebook, send me your photo and info by email: winecheeseandscrapbooking@gmail.com

This is completely for fun, but if I get at least 10 friends to participate, I will randomly choose one and share some goodies.

Let's give it the first 10 days of the month. Share your creation on or before April 10.  I will share your entries on the road and if 10 or more participate, I will select a winner and announce the following day.

Does it sound fun?  Let's do it!
