A simple layout for a simple Friday!

Hello...  Another Summer Friday, stopping by to share a very simple layout I recently made.  I could say it is really work in progress because I might add a little bit of more details before putting it in the album... maybe not...

Before I tell you about it... remember I told you about the Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event?  It was awesome! I met Teresa Collins!!!! yeah!  You can see the story and some pictures clicking HERE.  Enjoy!

About the layout... Just wanted to document my husband's 42th birthday.  I gave him a bottle of a Kripta Cava he wanted to taste so bad...  It is sold in a hand made bottle which bottom is rounded... so you cannot stand the bottle anywhere... When we drink it, we'll have to have it in the ice cooler.  It is very cool... I can't wait to taste it...

I used these Unity stamps about wine, I just love.  I even stamped on this cork paper I found at a local store.  Love it!

... And place some "Simple Stories" elements to document and avoid extensive journaling. I wanted to keep it simple.  I even used a real wine glass tag which says: "this drink belongs to: JOHN".

Hope you like it.  Have a great Friday...  I will link this to Unity Stamp Co. Friends with Flair Friday.

Ah!... and I almost forgot...Happy Father's Day!

End of ASL

Oh yes, I know... I've been so out of track these days...  Between work, and the ASL (American Sign Language) class, I've had to park for a while my favorite hobby... because I am only human.

And speaking about the ASL class... I was supposed to end the basic course today... We received a call yesterday because the University employees were going to work on some air conditioning fixing in the classrooms so the last class was postponed for April 6.  We cannot make it for April 6, so we called the professor to see if he was ok to meet in other place...or any other date.  We are just 9 students and we thought everybody was happy to end this soon...  My husband and I have worked so hard these six weeks... not because this is something we need or  will live from, but because we take it seriously.  And last week we studied everyday and practiced for the final work (3 to 5 minutes signing about a topic)...

But I guess I still don't get it... I have to understand that not everybody is in the same page.  Most students we called were just so happy because the class was canceled!  LOL... and the  professor just... was... there...  So, I got frustrated a little bit but then thought it was ok...   But one important thing... The professor said we (hubby and me) don't necessarily have to go to that class if we can't because we definitely passed!  :)

I prepared some party favors for the students.  Since my final work was about scrapbooking hobby, I planned to finalize my signing by inviting them to identify their names on these...

Each party favor has a name in ASL.  That was going to be fun... I know.
We plan to give the professor a video with our final work and also these gifts so he can distribute to the students.

I embossed several goodie bags and embellished with similar elements, but ensuring each one is different and personalized.  The name is in ASL alphabet.

Here they are...

Ana

Keren

Tania

Wined

Yoliannie

Mildred

José
Carmen

But this is not all...
I had a surprise for my husband with a special little bag for him... LOL...  Now, I will have to give it to him... but I will validate if he's reading my posts and will wait until he asks me for this party favor...

John

Tks for stopping by and please keep enjoying this imperfect life...  it's wonderful, isn't it?

Love Friday!

Hello Blogger friends... and Friday friends.

Today's a special Friday (as all of them! LOL)... because yesterday was St Valentines Day, so it is a good excuse to say that this is Valentines' weekend...  You know, us, humans, always have excuses for everything.

I was thinking that having excuses to justify bad behavior or mistakes is no good... no, no, no... and you know it... But when the excuses are for good things...to help others... to work more...  to protect nature... to give surprises, to make someone happy, to do something good for someone else or  someone in need... if the excuse helps you be a better person...  it's ok... I'll allow the excuses.

So, even though is a commercial thing, if you have the excuse of St. Valentines' weekend to love your life and everybody in your life...   I'll allow it.  I'll accept the excuse.

This is the card I made for my husband... very crafty.. lots of paint, color and mixed elements.  I used chipboard letters, cut outs, stamps (of course!!!), patterned paper, cardstock, ink, paint, journaling from cards, etc...  I used some of the scrap materials from a box where I put things that I cut or stamped and then didn't use...  That's why I don't throw away things so easily (almost a hoarder).

My husband loved it.
Have a wonderful Friday... and Valentines weekend!

Enjoy life!

Crystal Anniversary!

Hello...

Hope you are having a good weekend.

I told you I was celebrating my wedding anniversary.  It's been 15 years.

Being married is not easy... but it's a blessing.  It's more the good than the "less good" things.  I think love is something very special... but it's not only a feeling... it's a decision.

The tradition says the 15th. anniversary is celebrated with crystal.  Crystals are transparent, very clean... and the more you polish, the more light they radiate.  That's how love is too.

I thank God for the opportunity to have a good husband.

And I made this card.  Tried not to be too girly but still kind of didn't achieve it 100%... LOL.

Hope you like it.

Ticket Banner Card

Hello everybody...

Almost Friday... how cool is that?

And this is the other birthday card I made for my husband.

I stamped this "ticket" stamp several times in different designer papers and made a banner out of them...  They look soooo cool!  Two of them even have "foil" appearance.

The beautiful and practical ticket stamp is from Unity Stamp Co.   I love that I could send a great message with the word "Enjoy" all across by repeating the ticket...

The Spanish sentiment from Spanish Memories, and the stars from Inkadinkado.

I'm linking this to Unity Challenge HERE.

Let me know your comments... You don't even know how much I enjoy reading them.  Thanks!!!!!

Happy Birthday! DH!

Today's my dear husband's birthday!  Let's celebrate!!!!

It's Wednesday, so we have to work anyway... but hope we can celebrate over the weekend.

For now, a birthday card!

A simple, classy, non-girly birthday card for a 41 year-old...

I used a ribbon showing wine bottles and glasses, from a bow in a gift I received a while ago... (recycling you know?)...

I stamped Happy Birthday sentiment in Spanish, from Spanish Memories stamps, cut and matted with some layers...

I left it pretty simple trying to be plain enough for his taste...

And I included another sentiment from the same set of stamps, in the interior of the card...  it's the definition of birthday!

Hope you liked my card... and let's celebrate life!!!!

Wooo hooooo!!!!

A Layout with double purpose...

Hello.... Happy month of July... How are you doing?
I'll soon will be celebrating one year anniversary of this blog... so keep in touch.

Now... I wanted to share this with you... No matter how many layouts I design or scraplift about us, my husband and I, he always says I do not make layouts about him.... It's not true... I do have lots of layouts about him, about how I feel about him, about how much he loves me... etc.... but anyway... It is also true I do have more layouts about our dog, Malbec... and probably about other situations or events...

So I used this photo in which he was celebrating New Year's Eve and made this page...
Not only I am documenting the great time we had in his brother's house welcoming 2011 but also I am using this photo of my husband and nobody else so he can feel it is his layout..hehehehe.

I used a transparency to provide dimension and play with the elements... some are in front, some are behind... I cut lots of circles to complement the theme and tried to maintain the page a bit masculine without losing the party mode.

I hope you like it...

And tell me... does anyone in your family claims about you not doing scrapbooking work about themselves or around their activities or interests? I want to know if I am alone or not... Please tell me about it...

(cardstock: Bazzill; stamps: Inkadinkado; patterned papers: DCWV; eyelets: from Crop-a-dile kit; letters: Thickers from AC; circle punch: Memory Makers; transparency: Fancy Pants; adhesives: glue dots, Scotch, Generations; inks: Staz-on, Dew Drop; pen: Sakura; Cricut cartridge "Graphically Speaking"; Cricut Expression machine)
