Happy Birthday to You!

Hello friends...
Today's a special co-worker and friend's birthday.  She will celebrate next Saturday, but today IS THE DAY!  So, I gave her a little something (a certificate for a local sushi restaurant she likes), and of course I had to embellish an envelope to give it to her.

I used design paper as base, and sprayed some color before stamping the sentiment.

I made a small envelope for a tag and embellished with washi tapes and sequins.   Separately I stamped the image, colored and cut, to place next to the envelope.

She loved it!  And I loved making it for her last night! :)

I will link this to Unity Stamp Co Friday Friends with Flair next Friday... the first Friday of the new year... so if you leave a comment you are participating to win some goodies from Unity!

Thanks for stopping by!

After Xmas Friends with Flair Party!

Dear friends.  Happy Friday, and I hope your Christmas day yesterday was a good one.

I had a good time... very relaxing with my husband and mom in Holy Night, and then with my Mother in Law and my husband's family yesterday.

Today is a regular day at work but expected to be a very quiet one since there's a lot of people who took the day off...

I'm sharing this CAS card...  it's very similar to one I already showed you before (CLICK HERE), but I loved the fun way to create a background with watercolor pencils, and stamp an image on it.

I am linking this to Friday Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Co so make sure to leave a comment for a chance to win some goodies...  Every Friday we share projects made with Unity stamps.  One entry and one commenter win.

I'm also linking two other cards I made and posted this week, so go there and while you leave comments under those posts of mine too,  please find all entries for all Unity Friends and give them some love.

Have a great weekend and continue celebrating the season!

Merry Christmas!

This is a great day!  We are celebrating when Jesus was born!  It is a good reason to celebrate, don't you think?  I admit we, humans, sometimes forget the real meaning of this celebration... It's not that we don't know, it's just part of being imperfect.  So, just in case, take a few moments to thank God for everything you have lived, or whatever you have or don't have... God is good.  Wish Jesus a Happy Birthday today!

I thought it was appropriate for today, to share a mini album made for a class I gave at a local store last month.   It's a class designed for two hours so it was a combination of mixed media and really regular simple scrapbooking so we could finish on time.

So I am going to share some images with you, since today's Christmas day and the mini album is about this holiday and at the same time you can see some photos and have fun!

This is the cover/first page.  We used modeling paste with stencils, and cut some poinsettias which we made glow with gold spray.

Here are some of the pages.  I placed photos from different Christmases and other events, 'cause I didn't want the mini album to be just a plain project without life.  I like the students to see how the photos can look in the album or pages I make for them.  The girls in the photos are my neighbors and goddaughter...  They are older now.

The photo at right... I remember we took this photo at one of my neighbor's house. The Xmas tree was beautiful!  And these girls are 9 now.
At left my other neighbor who was just months old... She was kind of scared of me taking pictures while she was lying in a blanket at the beach. Who wouldn't?

This is my dear brother with my niece and nephew.  These are wonderful children.  They live in the States and we don't see them very often, but they are really good children and so loving, caring, and brilliant.  My bro also has an older daughter who is actually going to be a mom next year... God bless her!
Note that this photo is hidden behind a tab?  Well, we actually made some more pages with flaps and tabs so we could accommodate multiple pictures.  It was a very nice project.

My god daughter again...  She was such a little baby here.  The circles here are from a design paper, but we also combined with cardstock circles.  some are flat and some are with dimensional adhesives, so this is a very cool and simple page with lots of movement and life.

My beautiful mom...  Guess that smile is in the family.

This page had flaps at top and at bottom... so you could place photos inside and out... Very clever!

My husband and I.  Love this guy.  We are not a perfect couple... that doesn't exist, but yes... I love him.   And I know he loves me ! :)

This is the backcover of the mini album in which we also used some glass beads/crystals and paint with stencils.  Love the texture we achieved here.  Beautiful!

Being a scrapbooker has brought me nice experiences, and teaching is one of them.  But I wouldn't call it 100% teaching because most scrapbookers know what they are doing; I would say is sharing a project with them and making it together...  It's so cool.

Now, my mini album is part of a great collection at Creative Time store.

And if you read this post until the end, then I wanna thank you for that.  Have yourself a Merry Christmas!

Unity (be inspired)

Every month, Unity Stamp Co shares a color inspiration image and two sketches (layout and card), along with a release of a new sentiment kit.  This is something all Unity lovers look forward each month.   It's called Unity (be inspired) Challenge.  The current challenge is #23.

I usually go with the color combo inspiration...  I really love the result of getting inspired by a photo or image and love how Unity gets out all the colors from the image and put them together very clearly so we can follow.

Here's the card I made inspired by this one.  It is a CAS style card using all the colors from the challenge and a sentiment by Unity Stamp Co.

I used stencils for the background, with some sprayed mist and color.  The sentiment is stamped in a darker color to stand out.

The gold sequins are perfect for a final touch and were inspired by the lights in the reference image.

The based where all is inked and stamped is gray, but all is over a kraft card base, which I've been using a lot lately.

Hope you like it.  I will share with Unity Be Inspired, and also with Unity Friends with Flair next Friday, so leave a comment for a chance to win with Unity.

I'm Dreaming of a WINE Christmas!

 Happy Sunday my friends.

It's been a very quite weekend... washing clothes, cooking, just at home... and some crafting too.  Good for a change, since I've been very active in work related activities and parties lately.  But still, think I need to do something today.  Maybe I will be hanging out later today... but for now wanted to share a card I made yesterday following a nice sketch I found recently in this blog called Deconstructed Jen.  This gal shares her work and sketches just for fun.

This is the sketch DS181:

DS181

And this is my take!

I combined Unity Stamps from two different itty bitties kits... one related to wine and one related to Christmas... and why not?  I'm dreaming on a wine Christmas...LOL!

I used baker's twine, cork, washi tapes, cardstock and design paper, over a kraft base.
For the multicolor stamped image, I just added the inks directly to the areas of the stamp I wanted to cover and wanted to be as imperfect as possible so tried to apply so there were no specific sections for each color.  The circles int he background were made with a stencil from Crafters Workshop.

Hope you like it.

Besides linking this to Deconstructed Sketch No. 181, I will share this also in facebook (Scrapper Myra), Unity Show & Tell, and Unity Friends with Flair.

A card for a Cowgirl!

I have a friend turning 50 on Christmas day.  She's a very active woman, strong character and always happy... with a lot of faith in God.  She also likes all kind of country things, work with nature, and especially the horses.  She could be a Puerto Rican cowgirl!  LOL!

She celebrated her birthday last week because she won't be available the very same day of her birthday so I made her this card.

I like this image from Unity Stamp Co. shows strength and beauty.  I combined with some sentiments from other kit...

Used corrugated paper and cork, not only for the rustic look, but also 'cause this girl also loves wine.

Tks for your comments.  I will link this to Unity Friday Friends with Flair so if you comment, you have a chance to win.

Challenge...again!

Hello friends. Enjoying Monday night?  Hope so.

I made this other card for the Addicted to Stamps Blog challenge which is about to end in less than one day.

I loved the inspiration photo from the challenge. Beautiful classic Christmas colors including red and gold.   So I was inspired to make another card.

I used red circles to create kind of a wreath in the background, along with gold sequins.

The Christmas angel is from Unity Stamp Co.so I will also be linking this up to Friday Friends with Flair next Friday, just for fun.

Hope you like my card and thanks so much for stopping by.

A Christmas Card!

Hello my friends. Hope you're having a great Sunday.
Here's a Christmas card I made for two challenges.
I love the final result of the background using watercolor pencils and water.

Christmas tree stamp was also heat embossed using powder. I love it.

Both stamps are from Unity Stamp Company and this post will be linked to Loves Rubberstamps and Addicted to Stamps.

Wedding Day!

Today is the wedding of a special couple.   I told you about it yesterday, remember?  Visit yesterday's post to read about the card I made for them.

But, since today is the wedding day, I wanna tell you about the wedding invitations, which I had the honor to make for them.  They had a concept a year ago and it evolved with different sizes, designs, and styles... Several changes were made along the way... colors, materials, etc...

For months... I cut dresses and  embossed their top...

I cut tuxedos and ties...

Punched circled logos...

And more circles...

Separated flowers from leaves...

Assembles tuxedos and dresses...

And finally, had the final design!  It's a very simple while elegant card.

The most important thing is that these invitations were made one by one, and the way the bride and groom wanted them to be.

On the back, the printed text was displayed with layers of cardstock.  I've erased some information for privacy, but you get the idea.

Join me to congratulate the couple in their special day.  Leave a comment for them, or find this post in facebook under Scrapper Myra ( button at right) and leave them a message.  I'll make sure they see all your messages.
Tks!

A wedding jar!

Dear friends...
I have a very special coworker who will get married tomorrow.  He is a great man and has a beautiful girlfriend.  I wish them the best in this new path in life.

I wanted to show you the card I made for them.

Their wedding is going to be celebrated in outdoors and as far as I know they will have key vintage country elements in the decoration and theme of the wedding, such as mason jars, photos, etc...   So I thought it would be appropriate to use this beautiful stamp from Unity Stamp Co. showing this big jar.

I used the word "love" in Spanish to fill the jar (this is a wood embellishment from Latina Crafter), and added the wedding colors with embossed cardstock and paper straws.

I will give this to them tomorrow, since I have the honor to be one of the guests... :)  Actually, I made their wedding invitations and I will share them with you tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Leave a message today since I will be linking this to Unity Friday Friends with Flair.  And come back tomorrow to see the invitations.

Christmas Layouts

Hey...  It feels like Christmas already... don't you think?

I recently had a class at a local scrapbooking store, and we made 4 beautiful pages...  The request was to use the selected papers, stickers and collection at its best... trying to take advantage of every corner.  I can say I'm good at this...  every piece of paper is usable in this hobby.
Students loved the class and I had so much fun.

I thought it was time I could share these pages with you.

This first one is so cool.  I love the banners on the top of the page... They were cut from the design paper and combined with stickers.  Baker's twine really made a great look along with the sequins...

Then this one was also very cool to make.  I took advantage of the design paper and cut the garlands in rows, so the photo was positioned behind them.  Loved the final result!

This is a very simple way to make a page with multiple photos and elements... and also taking advantage of the journaling cards and even make them be the title.
You just position the photos and cover the rest with your cards.  3D details are a must.

And finally this one with lots of nice elements from the collection.  Dive the paper in two sections and position the photos... embellish in opposite sides with different clusters of nice stuff for balance.

In the class we also provided a bonus...  a card made with more stickers and sequins...

Christmas is already here.  You should have some photos of the Season already... huh?   Hope you like my pages and that you got inspiration to make yours.

Merry Christmas.
