I am thankful!

Happy Friday...

I am thankful for a productive week at work... for family... for love... for everyday miracles... for the opportunity to enjoy life...for all God's creation!!!

You know, Fall season is not a big deal in my beautiful Puerto Rico.  We do celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving, but the "season" changes themselves are not too noticeable as in other places in the world.  So when I think Fall, I think gratitude.  And that's my spirit today... Just wanted to share that...

Here's a CAS card to reflect that sentiment.

I simply used strips of papers and combined together.

I placed two of the strips with 3D foams to provide some dimension.

Stamps are from Unity, both the sentiment and the leaf.

So, today I am thankful... Hope this inspired you to think of all the things you can be thankful for.  And... very important... I almost forgot....  Thank you for stopping by, for your comments... I am very thankful for my followers and blogger friends.  :)

Here comes Sunday....

Today is Sunday... a very hot Sunday here in Puerto Rico... and I'm going over an even warmer area in my beautiful Island... the town of Ponce.

I'm going to visit my mother in law.  Her mom died last week :(... (My husband's grandma).  She was 89 and had been sick for a while.  We said good bye to her last Saturday... and it was my mother in law's birthday.  It was so sad to see her saying good bye to her mom the very same day of her birthday. But it was special too, because she thanked her mom and said that she was leaving a day like the day she gave her life, so that was special.  We learn different life's points of view everyday.

So, anyway... My husband didn't want to mention her birthday on that day... he thought he would be giving her more sadness... but he wants to visit her today and give her a card.

So I made this one for her.  Didn't want to really put any sentiment related to what happened, but just a card that reflects relaxation, tranquility, or possibly a moment of serenity.

I'm not sure if I accomplished that (LOL!) but I liked the card for her.

I used a doily, different scrap papers and some baker's twine.   The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is washi tape.  (I've told you... these sticky friends have come to my life to stay).  I chose this stamp from Unity and I also got inspired from Unity's Sketch Challenge.

Hope you liked my card.  Have a beautiful Sunday...  Tks for your comments.

Go, John! Go, John!

Another Friday... another reason to celebrate... a weekend has just started!!!!  Yeih!
Hope you are as happy as I am!

Let me share this layout about my husband.  In 2009 he started eating healthier and exercising.  He lost about 45 pounds and he's ran in several 5K and 10K events.  He's been a real inspiration to others.  I admire him for that because it requires determination to continue doing it even after he reached his weight goals or considering how sacrificed it is to run almost everyday and eat healthy most of the time.   I am very proud, and I thank God because I have him by my side.  He gives me strength.

So I made a layout about this.  I shaped one of the photos as an oval and placed it with 3D foam dots, and framed with stamped dotted circles around it.  The stamp is from Unity.

I used a paper from Scenic Route I have to admit I have since I started with this hobby around 2007.  Do you have some papers you've had for a long time and have tried to use them but still haven't?  Well, that is the case of this paper.  It has several stars printed on it... very cool paper.  I hand-wrote my journaling in the big star.

I also used a Unity tag stamp with two hand cut triangles, to create a banner.  I love the final result.  It looks very hand made...  I love making my own embellishments when possible...

I also used washi tapes to frame the multiple photos in my layout.

So this is the whole page...

I'm linking this to current SEM Challenge which was the first inspiration for choosing these photos and honor my husband's perseverance.  And I'm also linking it to today's Unity FWF and current  Unity Challenge.

Have a very nice weekend.  Thanks for your comments.

Color My Week!

Hello there my friends.
This is such a crazy life... We have to do so many things that keep us busy and give us a lot of stress!!!  But it's fun, isn't it?  What if we didn't have much to do?  We'd probably be complaining as well...  So I decided this week is going to be great!  I decided to color my week with hope, optimism and love...  Attitude is everything and I think this one will help me to get to Friday sooner...:)
How about you?

I know a very talented lady called Jessica and since day one I've seen her work, I've told her she's extraterrestrial.  She really is... it's like she touches any paper and makes it beautiful.  Seriously, she has such a particular style you just have to love.  So, Jessica has her own blog you can access clicking her name at the beginning of this paragraph, but now she is also part of a new wonderful blog called The Creative Paper Trade.  It's so cool... Ladies here are so talented that I feel this blog will be famous pretty soon.  I'm already a follower.

And they have a challenge going on.

You have to make a project with these colors.  And I wish I had time to participate in all challenges I like... but I don't... this means getting to bed very late and get very tired during the week... but isn't this color combination great?  So I had to participate!

I made a card using some twine, border punch, stamps, chalk ink, patterned paper, brads, glossy accents, bling and card-stock.

I tried to be as faithful as possible to the color combo proposed in the challenge... And this is what I came up with...

The bird is part of the patterned paper... I just added glossy accents and a bling (eye) to make it stand out.

Here's and enhanced photo.  Colors look stronger because of the contrast so you can notice the depth and layers.

Hope you like my Monday project... and that it was worth it to lose some sleep... hahahahaha...  Thanks for your comments.  I love them all.

See you soon.

FWF & MOJO258

It's been a week without posting anything... no excuses... just tons of work...a lot of things happening.
But wanted to be faithful to Fridays FWF as much as I can.

I used a sketch from MOJO for this CAS card to share with you.

I also used some Unity stamps... the sentiment, the birdies and the "sun" (it isn't really a sun... it's like a token that says "kisses 5 cents" but I use a button to cover it and simulate a sun).

The two ribbons are really washi tapes on top of cardstock and then cut so they could be placed with 3D squares.

I hand cut the cloud, and finished up with three spray mist spots.

Photos are not the best but please forgive me... it's 1:30 am... :)

Have a wonderful weekend.

A Quick Friday Note!

Happy Friday friends...

I stopped by for a quick note to say Hi...  Don't have much time but please please HAVE a good weekend!

You know I love the little notebooks...  I use them all around the house and when traveling...  Remember THESE I embellished a while ago?

Well I made the same with this little composition book very quickly recently...

I covered it with felt... and embellished with washi tape and several other elements.  The tag on front is from Unity Stamp Co.  Love the "inspire" "inspire" "inspire" message...

I intend to use this little one to write down ideas or just random inspirational notes.

I covered the insides with paper.

I covered another one with paper and washi tape.

The banner is simply washi tape around twine, bent and cut with shape.

Love my little notebooks.

Now... go... get inspired... enjoy the weekend ahead...

Thanks for stopping by.

Don't forget to leave a comment for the opportunity to win with Unity, 'cause today is Friday... and that means Friends with Flair.

See ya'!

Just Sharing...

Hey everybody...

Here I am just sharing... remember we learn by sharing...

This is a banner I made for a friend's nephew bday.  I used images she provided me from the bday materials and theme she was using, combined with color-like materials I had at home from different collections.

(sorry for the photo but I did not find any other place to hang the banner to photograph it... LOL!)

And then I made some labels with same colors and images so she can use for a candy bar.

She was so nice to provide me this photo of how everything was put together for the party.  Lovely, isn't it?

Hope you liked it and got inspired for more ideas and ... learning.

Take care.

For a 50 year-old kid!

Woo hooo!  Today's a Holiday!...   I have to admit though that since I have so much work to be done at the office, sometimes I just can't enjoy the time off...  so I'll need to keep on learning new ways to free my mind!

I made this card last week for a co-worker who would turn 50!
I used a sketch from The Outlawz Challenges... and my card was featured!  Yeih!!!!  I am so glad they liked my card.

I used green as the base color 'cause that's this man's favorite color... and tried to make the card masculine...  for an "not so young" man who's very young at heart.

I also had some finishing touches inside the card.

Gave some dimension with pop-up squares...

He loved the card very much...  We took him for lunch and gave it to him, with messages from the whole team.

Hope you liked my card too...  And enjoy the rest of the long weekend!

Multiple Challenges!

Dear friends...  Let me share with you two cards I made just for fun and some challenges...

They were mainly for the Chalk N Stock but then I realized the linky was closed and I couldn't enter but I had fun... don't worry about me :(...

For the first one I used a border punch and cut some lace strips in cardstock, which I colored with chalk and glued to the card base.  I also used another punch to cut the scalloped oval where you see the TAC stamp "P is for princess" sentiment, and then glued to red cardstock and cut the border with scissors.

I also stamped some damasks (also from TAC)... and a CAS card has been completed.

I was going to link this post to the Chalk n' Stock Challenge.  The provided a bingo so you can match the requirements and I chose the second horizontal line which includes:  punches, color, cardstock, glue and scissors.

But they allow a double entry for the challenge, so I made another card...

For this one please note I painted the oval and green strip cardstock with chalk.  I also colored with chalk a separate piece of cardstock where I stamped the Xmas tree and then cut with scissors.  Both the tree and the sentiment are from Scrappy Cat stamps.

For this card I used a sketch from Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, and also chose the Xmas theme thinking of the cool weather from Outlawz Challenges Sunday CAS.

I hope you liked my cards and that you are having a great Sunday...

See you next time... (well, write / read you next time... LOL! )...

A card with deep meaning!

Happy Sunday...

In the middle of the weekend since tomorrow is a Holiday!

I wanted to share this card I made a couple of weeks ago.

It was the card a friend would give to his girlfriend when asking her to be his official girlfriend... got it?

So, he's very special and has attention to details for her.  They've been through a lot to make this happen, so he was going to give her some special presents for several days (one daily) and then at the end of the week, give her this card and ask her.

One of the days, he gave her a certificate of a named star to honor her, so that's why I included a little chipboard star that says "for you".

He also gave her flowers one of the days, so I added this paper pieced one.

Other day he gave her a section of a song he wrote, so the background is music symbols and also included the music symbol in crunchboard material.  Other day he gave her coupons valid for free hugs, kisses, this and that... so I included a coupon that you can flip and have different sentiments.

He told me she liked purple and yellow colors so I added some of that without conflicting with the music background paper I had... and also added a border at left in a different color to make the card more interesting.

So here's the whole card with the coupon flipped so you can see both versions.

Hope you liked it!  Thanks for stopping by here.  I love it when you do that!
