A real challenge...

This has been a cool challenging challenge (if this is correctly said at all!).  

I stopped what I was doing to make a card with current Cosmic Strawberry's color challenge (#13) 'cause I saw it last week and had it in mind.  Then I realized I have less than one day.  

Then I had this other challenge in mind for the Incy Wincy Designs blog that it is called All or Nothing, referring to the use of lots of layers or no layers. 

So I figured I could combine both.  I decided to go with no layers.  Oh God.  Difficult task!

Photos are not the best since it"s late and don't count on natural light but hang in there with me. 

Well, I stamped and masked the image in the center, then sprayed paint, let dry and stamped the other images in blue. When I took out the mask the image in the center stood out since it was free of spray paint.  It look like it was glued on top but it is really all one layer.  

This is quite difficult to me because I usually add dimension with layers. But I did it!   And I love the color combo.  It's not easy to keep almost monochromatic.

I haven't shown you these moms!

Moms are the best... Don't you think?  I often don't agree with my mom.  We are somewhat different in a lot of things.  But I still think she's the best.  And of course she thinks I'm the best too! LOL!

I haven't shown you these mamas I made for Mother's Day.  All with different personalities... just as moms are.

I stamped and colored each image thinking of a special mom in my life.  Some are very close to reality... :)

I made a base for them to be displayed, so these were very special Mother's Day cards for each of my mamas, and they are also a cute little decor project if they want to display somewhere.

Salud y Feliz Cumpleaños!

Mi querido esposo cumplió años recientemente...  Estoy muy feliz de que cumplió un año más de vida con salud y felicidad.

En esta ocasión no quería regalarle vinos pues aunque no es lo que siempre le regalo yo (sí lo he hecho en varias ocasiones), pero en realidad mucha gente nos regala vinos y accesorios de vinos a ambos...y eso nos encanta de verdad... Pero quería regalar algo diferente.  Bueno, la cosa es que por diferentes razones terminé regalando vino... pero eran unos vinos muy especiales y él estaba muy contento.

Pues para los vinos que regalé hice dos cosas, una fue un tag para botella, y una tarjeta.

Para el tag utilicé diversos papeles de diseño.  También sellos y stencil de Latina Crafter.  Uno de los papeles tenía secciones con mapa de Francia y aunque el vino que estaba regalando no era francés, de todos modos hice alusión a un territorio vitivinícola por excelencia y además, lugar al que tenemos pendiente visitar algún día.

También utilicé un "embossing folder" de Provo Craft para una sección donde se veía manuscrito en relieve.

Aquí una foto de cómo se veía el tag con la botella.

La tarjeta entonces la hice cortando cardstock en forma de botella...  Utilicé un poco de ayuda guía de una silueta de botella que tenía en chipboard, de un empaque que tenía guardado, y la modifiqué un poco a mano porque la quería hacer más grande.  HIce una etiqueta en juego con el tag, y utilicé "dies" de Latina Crafter para las palabras "feliz" y "cumpleaños".

También añadí papel dorado para simular la cápsula de la botella, y lo mismo por dentro pero con papel de corcho.

A mi esposo le gustaron mucho... pero en realidad más le gustaron los vinos.  (Yo me aseguraré de que se los toma conmigo para que sea un regalo para los dos...jejejeje... Salud!)

En el nombre del amor....

 Qué bonito el amor!!!  No creen?  

Siempre he dicho que el amor tiene que ver con muchos sentimientos y sobre todo cuando se trata de amor de pareja, es hermosa esa etapa de enamoramiento donde todo es color de rosa...  Pero en realidad el amor es una decisión.  Decidimos amar con todo lo que venga.  Salud o enfermedad, pobreza o riqueza, en las buenas y en las malas.  Y por supuesto, esto no significa con maltrato y sin maltrato, con respeto y falta de respeto... etc.   Significa que si fuera por las cosas menos buenas que se van a encontrar en las relaciones, siempre habría una razón para no seguir amando... o para no intentarlo... o para simplemente rendirse.

En verdad admiro cuando las personas no pierden la fe y vuelven a intentarlo...y luchan por ser felices... y no se rinden ante malas experiencias.  Cada día es uno nuevo que nos regala Dios y podemos ser nuevos nosotros también.

Les comparto una tarjeta que hice para una pareja que tiene fe en el amor y un mejor porvenir.  La esperanza nunca se pierde y no podemos dejarnos llevar por las malas experiencias vividas con otros o por otros; siempre teniendo presente que podemos modificar nuestros errores y comenzar de nuevo.

Utilicé el kit de sellos de Latina Crafter "El Arbol del Amor".   Estampé primero el árbol en el papel de diseño que utilizaría como base, y ahí estampé la palabra "amor".  Luego lo estampé en papel "kraft" y corté el corazón para tener un agujero.  Luego volví a estampar la sección de la cinta en otro papel para distinguirlo y ahí estampé la frase "para siempre".

En la base de la tarjeta creé varias capas con puntilla, papeles de diseño, y también flores en papel y vellum, adornadas con muchas lentejuelas, además de unos "wood veneers".

Aquí la tarjeta completa.  Espero que les guste a ustedes y a la pareja que la va a recibir junto con nuestros mejores deseos de felicidad y una vida plena, llena de detalles y de momentos de amor y alegría... sin apariencias, con sinceridad, con la frente en alto y el alma en la mano, y con la entrega total y la DECISION de amar para siempre.

A card for "a" challenge!

What a beautiful day!  What a wonderful world!  What a great life!  What a good everything!  Well, I know it's kind of exaggerated but I want to keep optimism to a high level. Too many things happening in my beautiful Puerto Rico.  Weak economy, unemployment, government taxes... and more.  But I know we are not as bad as others in the sense that we have brothers and sisters from other parts of the world who are living worst nightmares.  We'll hang in there... we'll survive.  I wish no more young professionals left the island seeking greater success.  We need them here.  I appreciate your prayers for a better Enchantment Island really soon.  Thank you!

Anyways, that was just a note.  I'm stopping by to show you a card I made last night, inspired by several challenges.  One is this from Curtain Call.

Isn't this gorgeous?  I see the inspiration image and think of graduation, dresses, delicate things, love, fabrics, textures... and such great colors.

And then there's this great inspiration from current Unity Be Inspired Challenge.  Similar colors to the Curtain Call's image, so my inspiration matched both color combos.

I also wanted to participate in the current Take it Make it Challenge from Craft Stamper.  I would looooveee to see my work on this recognized magazine... so I keep sharing whenever possible.  This time is an "Anything Goes" theme, so I'm sharing this one.

I made a card.  Oh, I like it very much.  I used Unity Stamp image and sentiment, patterned paper, gold paper, a nice cute garland with mini soft balls hanging on it, and sequins.  It's kind of a CAS style even though there was some painting and cutting that could be time consuming for some, but the image is stamped and not colored, since I wanted the background to become THE color of this card.

How did I make the background?  Just played with Distress Stain colors.  I applied with the round applicator / tip ensuring it was wet so the color splashed.  When dried I achieved exactly the colors I wanted, and then I stamped on it.

Huele a café... LCSC#47

Hola chicas latinas...

Aquí les comparto hoy mi participación en el reto del mes de mayo, 2015, de Latina Crafter (LC).

LC provee un "sketch" a seguir, al igual que un "twist" para el reto.  En el caso del mes en curso, el giro dado al reto fue añadir algo con el tema de café.  Pues me la pusieron un poco difícil porque no tengo sellos de LC de este tema.  Busqué entre todos los que tengo a ver si me inspiraba alguna frase que pudiera relacionarse, pero tampoco.... Mi mente viajó y llegó a mí un poco de inspiración con el café pero las ideas iban desde usar cartón corrugado para simular la tira que se usa para cubrir el vaso de café desechable y aislar calor...  hasta utilizar la harina de café para dar textura a mi proyecto...  

Al fin y al cabo ?qué hice?   Pues pinté un filtro de café con un poco de "distress stain" que simulara que fue usado y se le quedó el olor a café, y luego ensamblé una flor.  Es mi flor de café...jajajajaja...  En realidad me sirvió de adorno para una tarjeta veraniega, pero creo haber cumplido creativamente con el reto... y de eso se trata.. de haber sido retada.

Para la imagen utilicé "watercolor pencils" y marcadores.  Además, las nubecitas fueron hechas con "stencil" de LC.

Done with all the rest...

Oh wow!  I wanted to participate in current Unity Be Inspired challenge and when I checked the date, it is due tomorrow (It's almost tomorrow already).  But I also wanted to go to sleep earlier... didn't happen!  Then I said... "I'm going to get this done"...  

And I made this card for the challenge using the color inspiration. You can find the details HERE.

I used different media to color, stamp and make a background for the sentiment...  distress inks, watercolor pencils, paint, pigment ink and glossy accents...

Really love the subtle effect of all these colors together.  I wish I could had taken a better photo, but it's dark...sorry.   I added a touch of gold with two acrylic paint brushes, which also add some movement.  I wanted the color to be behind the sentiment and not in the image, so just colored the center of the flowers and added glossy accents.  I wanted to do this because I wanted the sentiment to be the center of attention.  Don't you love these words?

The edges are distressed for the perfect imperfection touch I love.

Close Encounter

Hello.  Sharing today a layout page about a "close encounter" I had with singer Franco de Vita. Actually the closest I could be because it didn't go very well. LOL. 

See how I used the punctuation to make sure I am being sarcastic about the "captured" reality. 

In the journaling I explain that we waited for a while to have a "meet and greet" but there were too many people so I quite didn't get there on time. 

So the camera was NOT really ready because I just tried to achieve a selfie and this is what I could do.

Curtain Call Challenge

Hello friends.  

Stopping by to share a card made for the current Curtain Call challenge. 

I love the inspirational theme and photo.  Who doesn't love to travel?

I used Prima Color Bloom sprays to create a unique background and stamped image and sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. 

I also created a trail for the wood veneer plane.   Love it!  

Had this other version with little cameras in the bottom but preferred the card without them.  What do you think?

NSD 2015 - Reto #4 Latina Crafter

Ya esto está llegando a su fin... por lo menos de los retos de este día nacional del Scrapbooking celebrándolo con Latina Crafter...   

Para el Reto #4 nos pidieron usar productos de Latina Crafter...   Hice un layout, en el que además de sellos usé un "stencil" de círculos, y también usé "wood veneers" de Latina Crafter.

En la pasada Navidad, decidimos montar el arbolito y mami estaba en casa y nos ayudó.   Nos tomamos fotos unos a otros sin posar...  ?Será que ya me conocen?  Me gustan las fotos que no necesariamente están posadas y captan momentos espontáneos.  Espero les guste y nuevamente... FELIZ Día Nacional del Scrapbooking!  Yo lo he pasado bien...  Es la primera vez que puedo participar de tantos retos en un día.  Gracias Latina Crafter!

NSD 2015 - Reto #3 Latina Crafter

El reto #3 de Latina Crafter en celebración del Día Nacional de Scrapbooking, me pareció "tricky"...  Nos piden mostrar la foto favorita...  

Yo tengo muchas fotos favoritas.

Tengo favoritas donde estoy sola, de o con mi esposo, mi perro, de mi mamá, mis amigos, del trabajo, selfies con mi ahijada, etc. etc. etc....

Pero bueno... hice un layout súper sencillo para hacerlo también rapidito con una foto en la que estoy con mi esposo.  Estábamos en una fiesta de cumpleaños... y sí... antes de que me pregunten...soy más alta que mi esposo... jejejeje

Me gusta tener fotos de nosotros juntos.  De esta forma también vemos como vamos cambiando y estamos cumpliendo nuestro sueño de envejecer juntos.

No somos una pareja perfecta... ninguna lo es.  Mucha gente piensa que nos vemos bien juntos y que nos llevamos bien pues en realidad nos amamos demasiado.  Pero somos humanos y a veces nos enojamos y decimos cosas que no debemos.  Yo siempre he dicho que es importante evitar estos encuentros, pero si suceden, tratar, dentro del enojo, dentro de la desesperación, no olvidar que nos amamos.  Ampararnos en los momentos bonitos y llenos de demostraciones de amor, vs en las pocas cositas malas... que cuando estamos enojados parecen muy grandes, verdad?

NSD 2015 - Reto #2 de Latina Crafter

Seguimos celebrando el Día Nacional de Scrapbooking con Latina Crafter.  El segundo reto nos pide que describamos lo que es Scrapbooking para nosotros.

Buenoooooo...  Es muchas cosas!  Creo que el scrapbooking primero pensando así como obviamente, es un hobby que me despeja la mente, me relaja y me ayuda a liberar estrés.   Más allá de un hobby, es una actividad que me permite guardar memorias, me permite expresarme y hasta liberarme con creatividad.  Me gusta que no es ni correcto ni incorrecto lo que hagamos, sino que hay espacio para imperfección porque así es el arte, así es cuando se crea.

 También, por medio del scrapbooking he conocido gente maravillosa y he compartido lindos momentos con otras personas.

En resumen, para mí el scrapbooking ha llegado a mi vida como una bendición.

Para el Reto #2 decidí hacer una ATC.   Tenía unos pedacitos de algunas cosas creadas ya, y lo que hice fue unirlas para literalmente C R E A R!!!   Se me ocurrió plasmar simplemente el mensaje contestando el reto, tal y como lo pensé... bueno pero usando la sintaxis a mi favor para poder usar estos bellos sellos... jajajajaja

NSD 2015 - Reto #1 de Latina Crafter

Hoy es el Día Nacional de Scrapbooking!  El primer sábado de mayo siempre se celebra esta maravilla!  Es una excelente excusa para disfrutar nuestro hobby.

Hoy estoy celebrando este día con Latina Crafter.  Participaré lo más que pueda sin dejar de hacer mis deberes, porque me entusiasmo y me pierdo...jajajaja

En el primer reto que han establecido debo hablar algo de mí y de algo que me apasiona.  En la vida tenemos muchas cosas que nos apasionan, y hasta creo que a través del tiempo una cambia y las circunstancias cambian, y diferentes cosas nos apasionan o nos dejan de apasionar.

Escogí hace mi layout sobre el vino.  Tenía estas dos fotos pendientes para posibles layouts.  Una es de tan reciente como el pasado mes de diciembre, en la que estoy mostrando una super botella de un vino.  Estos tamaños de botella no siempre se ven en una casa.  Y la otra foto es de hace varios años.  Se ve mi imagen a través de una copa. Esta foto la tomó una amiga "scrapbukera" que tambien disfruta el vino.

Utilicé el kit "Simplemente" para completar el título con elementos de adorno.
