A Pink Monkey Card

It's been a busy week!!! I haven't dedicated time to scrapbooking hobby these days except for today... I have so many things to do that I challenged myself to make a baby card in less than 30 minutes and share it with you today. So, I tried to use as many "ready to use" materials without losing the handmade touch.

I used cardstock from scraps, combining pastel (cloudy look) and bright contrast colors. I painted pastel pink cardstock's edges with Color Box ink. The message was already printed in a vellum phrase from Jo-Ann Craft Essentials and I adhered it with brads. I used Autumm Leaves stamp for the monkey and painted it with watercolor pencils from Kimberly. The card base and envelope are from Gardner.

I also had time to stamp another animal inside the card for a final touch. I hope you like it. I'm going to give it to a coworker next Monday at her surprise baby shower at the office.

Ipod Classic (a simple and fun card)

Hello to all...

I was asked to create a bday card for someone. The person loves music and all technology related to Apple brand. His favorite colors are black and blue. I've also got a picture of the cake design he will have at his bday party next week. Here's the cake prototype:

So then I thought it would be nice to make the card with similar cake's shape. I looked for some reference in the internet and I found a very cool inspiration for the ipod with this About Scrapbooking's layout using paper piecing. Isn't it cool? Thank you About Scrapbooking!

So, here's the card I made. I simply printed an ipod screen with a bday message, and paper pieced the circles to imitate the buttons. I also added headphones paper piecing in the interior of the card. I hope you like it.

Have a happy week!

I had the opportunity to participate one day of the event... (I wanted to be there the whole weekend but couldn't...). Here are some pictures with some of the teachers. What a great time we had! Very nice memories!!!
Here with Margie Romney. Such a great personality this lady has!!!
And these models are the Glitz Girls!!! Here we are with Yamile Fernández, who's the organizer of the event.
You can see more of the Glitz Girls at www.glitzitnow.blogspot.com
Also, the great Donna Downey! How special and talented she is!!! In the photo are with one best friend of mine, Vivian.
And the beautiful Lizzy. She also participated in the first event last year! Such a sweet teacher!

This is it... for now...
I have plans to enjoy a delicious wine this weekend. I like a wine called La'Madrid (from Argentina), and we have one Malbec reserved for a special occassion... and any ordinary day is a special occassion. What are you going to do?
Ah!!! and remember to take some time to be imperfect.

YOU ROCK - another card

Happy Wednesday! We are now closer to Friday (my favorite day!). Hope you are enjoying your week.

Let me share with you another card I made using recipient's information in order to inspire and create it. In this case the card was for a guy who plays in a rock band, likes tatoos, will perform in concert soon, loves music and is in his 20's. I wanted to personalize the card even more so I included a photo.

This is the result:

Most of the stars and the numbers at left are heat embossed. Sorry you cannot appreciate the texture in this photo but they look really cool. Also, there are some of the circles that are metallic or "mirror like" and they also give a great look to the whole card.
I think it ended up in a very masculine and cool card. Hope you like it as I do.

Here's a photo of the inside of the card (very simple, though supporting the theme), and a close up of some details:

Have a good day!

Live it Up

Hello....

I was in a business trip last week and since my blog is new I have to confess I often thought of what my next posts will going to look like. Does this happen to you? Suddenly an idea of your possible posts come to your mind and you have to develop? Well... I do have some ideas for my future posts, but for now I just wanted to share this card I made for a friend's relative's bday. He gave me a complete profile of the person (colors she likes, personality, talents, profession, etc...). So I tried to show in one card all the information he gave me.
She's a gal who sings in a rock band, likes dogs, her favorite colors are pink and black, loves animal prints, jewels and feathers, and is in her 20's.

This is the result:

I added some stars and feathers in the inside to personalize the card even more:

This is a close up of some details:

I hope you like it...

Don't forget to live it up, and be imperfect!!!

Liar Liar

Last year I made this ATC for a local activity, featuring "Only in Puerto Rico" topic. It was titled: 365 days of Summer...
Well... this is kind of true at my beautiful island Puerto Rico... but news today are announcing heavy rain showers for the weekend... so it's not completely true. I'm such a liar!

Anyways, I hope you have a good weekend anywhere you are...and no matter how the weather comes out... and remember to take time to be imperfect. Cheers!

Welcome to my blog

Hello there! I finally did this!!! I've been thinking about having a blog for a while. This is a place to be imperfect and have fun (check out the explanation in my profile). I'm even posting in English, not being my first language... but hey... I'm telling you... This blog gives permission to be imperfect... I'm looking forward to meet good friends through this blog... and I hope you enjoy, learn, get inspired, or simply laugh with (or at) my posts somehow...

LAYOUT "YOU"

For my first post, I wanted to share with you this page I did about a month ago. I love it because it is simple and reflects my happiness. The photo is a self portrait (I've been doing that a lot lately). I created a background with some paper scraps to frame the picture, and then embelished with simple elements. Instead of lots of journaling (I love journaling), I stamped several times the phrase "you+me=happy".

See you later...
